I am currently looking for a new hosting company having had bad experience from gx hosting . My site has a basic cgi based chatroom. I have searched a number sites. I always look at their terms and conditions since I don't like hidden surprise. Most of them actually ban cgi chatrooms. Can anyone recommend me some good companies? Many thanks
There is a reason most hosts disallow CGI chatrooms.
Most companies disallow CGI chatrooms, simply because they are CPU hogs. They have to refresh every two seconds, eating up CPU time and bandwidth.
A great alternative is a java based chatroom.
There are many hosts that provide you with decent java based chatrooms.

Which cgi chatscript is it?. i know for a fact that e-chat version 4.2 and everychat 3.6 are very light on the server.
CGI-Chats that take up massive amounts of resources are - ralfs chat, DashChat(roftlmao ripoff of everychat) and Chat pro.
