Hi,

I'm wondering if theres anyway around useing the same username's on two or more different hosted domains on a raq4i. I have a setup like this:

username@domain.com

and then trying to add the same for

username@domain2.com

but when adding the same username in domain2.com it says username already exists. Obviously because I wish to add the same username as the other domain has on the raq.

Cany anyone explain how to get around this?

due various reasons a username/useraccount has to be unique on the complete RaQ, and infact there's no reason to have the same username.

if you want to receive email like
username@domain1.com and
username@domain2.com
it's no problem, you can to this with email aliases.

for the accounts, we have the policy that
a username has to be something like
domainXX where xx is a unique number. So no costumer can catch away a popular username like office, info, etc... ie. stupid.com would have its users named stupid1, stupid2, etc.

but alot of sites want the same email accounts

like info@domain.com
info@domain2.com

how do you create an aliase for info@domain2.com that sends mail to an email account for domain2.com and not too domain.com

You must have misunderstood iplexx because he explained.

basically a cobalt cannot have 2 usernames that are the same. there can only be 1 username 'info'. BUT you can have the same email alias for all domains.

For example

webmaster@dim8.net - username webmasta
webmaster@kchat.org - username webmaster

Different usernames, same email, different boxes.

Where it says email alias in your CP, just enter the full email address 'info@domain1.com'

I just create the admin account a catch all email account by adding:

@www.domain.com

in the email alias for that account. This way no matter what the email address it was sent to the admin account holder will get it.

Also remember the usernames have to be unique but you can have the same alias (webmaster) for all domains. Just create the username unique and add webmaster to the alias for that domain.

Yeah thanks for the replys,

My problem was I was unable to get any aliase working for domains.

The problem was I forgot to add web server and email server aliase in the site settings for the domain.

After adding both the entries in the aliase were working correctly for each domains to use.
