so i'm possibly meare moments away from signing up with http://www.webstrikesolutions.com/ for their *nix package. it's cheap, it's fairly comprehensive, and they seem to have a nigh spotless reputation.
however, i was hoping that before i commit i could get some advice from y'all. specifically what should i do before signing up, what should i watch for while using their service, and how to properly terminate service.
any help is appreciated.

that's a lot, i gather. i'm not new to making sites, nor to hosting them. but quite new to paying for professional hosting. i am not terrifically worried about going over the bandwidth limit, but i'll keep that in mind, thank you.
oh, and one more question. is bandwidth calculated on data sent FROM your site, or does it include any data i upload? i would imagine so, but can't say for sure

Yep, it will include data you upload, but I imagine that would be pretty small if your not doing big media files often.

For hosting companies, 2.50 is a good deal. Some NOCs even offer $1 per gig. For consumers, $4-6 per gig is normal. The hosting company has to ensure some sort of profit somewhere. :D

If your really worried about bandwith then try looking for a host that offers about 10-14gigs of bandwith. I never use 1gig a month out of 14 gigs that I can use. It just depends on how big your site is.
check out www.webhostdir.com,www.webhostsearch.com.
Here are some good hosts:
www.hostrocket.com
www.tera-byte.com
www.hostcaters.com
www.your-site.com
www.dim8.net
www.hostway.com
I know about them personally and they are good!
