Rackspace.com must have the highest reputation for reliability and uptime. I conclude this from reading various forums such as this highly esteemed gathering of wise minds.

Since about fifteen minutes ago I have been unable to reach www.rackspace.com who host sitepointforums.com which is also unreachable. I am located in Sydney, Australia connected to the net by cable through Telstra Bigpond.

Both of those are working fine for me. It's probably a transient routing fault somewhere Telestra's network; have you tried a traceroute?

Telstra is currently experiencing connectivity problems probably because of all the new one.net customers they grabbed.

Thanks. I was just curious. Telstra Bigpond connectivity to the US and in general has been pretty flakey lately :( I am behind a firewall so cannot traceroute from this pc - but I will do a traceroute though the telstra web site. It will save me having to get up from my chair :)

freakysid,

I'm in Melbourne and telstra connection are crap. Those on O@H are fine. I tried going to ausforum.com which is hosted by VO and many other overseas website, all didn't work.

I think only certain backbone are working ... my website on weinbar is working fine and WHT as well.

Just one word .... Telstra sucks big time. It is not the host. If you pay particular attention, Telstra have been having problem with connecting to Verio network for the past 2 weeks.

Just the thought of rackspace being down scares me. They'd have to be rated as having one of the best uptimes ...

I had clients in Queensland having major difficulties about two months trying to connect to my servers. I currently have another client, Mark Dynamix (a top dj) who has had access problems through Telstra's bigpond.

Try visiting broadband.org.au for broadband news too. It's a cool site by one of my clients.

Cheers,
Nigel

GRRRRRRRR and i thought i was alone, i'm having EXACTLY the same problems, I HAVE TO RECONNECT to icq every 5 mins, can't reach various websites on verio network etc... I can reach WHT, i'm in Sydney with BPA cable (telstra). This is such a pain in the neck, international links are really bad with telstra...!

Rackspace and Dialtone are the two companies with the most reliable network, although I do not have a server with RS, I heard good thing about them except for their pricing..but you get good service.
