View Full Version : Need a Dedicated Server for a Network

I've started work on a new gaming network (I already run www.bandwzone.com and www.dnfzone.net) and are currently hosted on a virtual server, but I want to move to a dedicated server to implement a new admin script that my friend (ledscripts.com) has programmed.

I've looked at loads of companies (hostpro, verio, dialtone, *****) but they all seem very expensive or either offer a pitifull amount of bandwith. I was going for a Dialtone server but they've recently gone up:angry:

So here's what I'm looking for

P3 600mhz or above.
128MB Ram
9GB SCSI or any HD will do
80GB bandwith a month

Linux based, and prefrebly no start up fee and a monthly cost of around $200.

I know, it's asking a lot, but has anyone got any suggestions?

edit

Basacilly I need bandwith more than anything.

Pegasus (http://www.pwebtech.com) has been good for me. Checkout the posts on this forum. They have a pretty good reputation. The owner of Pegasus also hangs out here and answers questions - that's a nice plus. Also look what everyone has to say about *****!! Yikes!!

Yeah, I used to have a virtual hosting account there, the tech support got confused with a Sub-domain and a new folder:)

Any way, I've looked at *****

http://www.*****.com/?zone=products/dedicated_hosting_unix

and that number 1 looks pretty good, has anyone every bought one, I want to know if there any cons with it.

Search the forums for many, many, many comments on *****... almost none positive experiences.

Note for the moderators: I think ***** should be included in the FAQ. :D

Burst.net have some excellent offers on at the moment, support has been far from great so far but plenty of bandwidth.

We have a box at www.dtwebworks.com as well and they've performed very well. Again, generous bandwidth allowances and support has been excellent.

Okay, I'm predidicting that I'll be receving around 300,000 page views per month, how much bandwith would that be?

It's just depending on how large your files/html size.
300, 000 * file size * (1+ 20%), the 20% is for Ftp, mail, request in, etc bandwidth.
hope this help

Well, if you look at my sites
www.hwuniverse.com
www.bandwzone.com
www.dnfzone.com

Can anyone have a guess at how much bandwith these will use, at 300,000 page views per month total.

Well, ***** only seem to have poor tech, which I doubt I will need that much, has anyone here bought a dedicated server from *****?
