View Full Version : looking for good web calendar solution

I'm developing a site for a non-profit agency. They'd like to have a agency-wide calendar as part of the site.

This is something that only one or two people are going to update, based on submissions from different departments. I'm looking for something that can be fairly easily updated, most likely with a web-based submission tool.

So I want to create a public calendar that can be moderated by one or two users via a web based administration tool of some sort. Being a non-profit, a free solution would be most desirable.

I looked around a bit at Sourceforge, and I found a couple that look good.
TUTOS
WebCalendar
myPHPCalendar

I'd prefer to use something that's fairly stable and as bug-free as possible. So I guess a couple of the above options might be out of the picture. TUTOS looks like the only one in Production/Stable.

I'm looking for something that's not too complicated, because all I'm looking for is a calendar.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

There are a ton of calendar projects on freshmeat.net, whether you want a solution written in PHP or Perl or just about any other language under the sun. Try a freshmeat.net search like http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=calendar&section=projects&x=10&y=11 and see what you find. Most projects are freely distributed under GPL, as well, so they are certainly affordable!!!

I recently found a great little calendaring program that is clean, nice to look at, easy to administer and VERY reasonably priced. Too good to be true? Nope!

Check out Calendar Express at http://www.phplite.com. The cost is $29.00. They are coming out with a "Pro" version in the next month or so that will have many new features, including categories and sub-categories for calendars.

I hope that this software meets your needs.

Has anyone had any experience adding additional fields to Calendar Express? I just purchased version 2 and it is pretty good, I just don't get the best support with it.

I'm using version 2 and would like to add 5 fields (2 hyperlink, 2 text and 1 DATETIME). Please let me know if you can help. Thanks
