I have a reseller account with a host that has all my domains on a Plesk server. I am getting to the point where I would like a control panel addon to streamline things somewhat - but am not large enough to warrant getting a dedicated server.

Because i don't have root access, that leaves me unable to use things like EasyPSA. PHPManager didn't work given that a necessary component wasn't installed on the server and the host doesn't want to install any more than the Plesk install default.

The host is good, otherwise I would consider leaving to make things more convenient so don't suggest that either. :)

Anyone else used to be in the same position? what did you do? I would love to hear your suggestions.

I would let the host know you are going to start looking for other solutions if they can now meet your needs, I am not sure what easypsa is, but for something simple like installing mcrypt I think they might have a change of heart if they know you are willing to leave as its pretty unreasonable to not be willing to offer this as alot of resellers utilize phpmanager to maintain a customer base.

If they dont budge I would say find another host, I dont know many offering plesk but I am pretty sure dixiesys offers it and they have a pretty good rep around here.

EasyPSA is a program that is a program you install on a plesk server, it creates all your accounts for you, does billing, I think it interfaces with enom and some CC systems. Root access to the server and admin account on Plesk is mandatory.

I know having a reseller plesk account, I won't get all the automated goodies that I would get from an account that is on a dedicated server with root access - I would love to have ModernBill or EasyPSA - but I am too small. I am just getting a little too big for my Excel spreadsheet. :)

EasyPSA is geared towards server administrators hence you need to have your own server. Your host should be able to install mcrypt for you as phpmanager needs it. It's a standard php rpm and takes about 45 seconds to install.

Wait till PEM Plesk Enterprise Manager comes out and find a host with it. ;)
