Forum-

I've been monitering my site's traffic stats, and I've noticed that I get a lot of international traffic (30-40%).
I am considering making my site multiligual. (I have the necessary translation tools) I was thinking of adding Spanish, then French, and maybe German, and even Chinese later.

Is it worth making my site mutli-lingual? Would that create more potential clients? How would billing situations work then?

I've been considering this for a while and was wondering if there is any one out there with their own experiences or opinions about the issue?

All opinions welcome! :)

What do you mean by "translation tools"? If you think of software that does the translation automatically without someone who knows the target language and corrects all the nonsense - forget it. No one will ever order on a website which is full of nonsense sentences.

Walter is right, translation tool is only as good as a dictionary. If you ask it to translate a sentence, often it doesn't make any sense.

I consider emails support is an important part of the services. If you don't understand the language. I bet most of them wont sign up after a chit chat with you through the emails. You will just scare them away.

But if you employ someone with that particular language skill, then its a different story

Walter & Eiv -

Good points, but in fact i do have 2 specialists in spanish and french (hehe, i referred to them as "tools") i could employ to translate my site to make sense.

So with that being said, is it still worth it?

Thanks again for your comments ;)

Its worth it because you will attract more people. But as Eiv said, not only your website will have to be in the foreign language, also all of your email communication!

My own site is in two languages, but that's because I know English and German. Of course I could translate my site to two other languages, but I have no person who could answer support or sales emails.

If you can afford multiligual service with a nice profit margin, then why not.
