So That is wrong.

I bet if an investigative reporter dug into paypal, they would find a lot of dirt about that company in their business dealing and freezing accounts and harboring fraudulent activities even though they screen for it.

I haven't had any problems with them either, and all my business is legitimate. I never feel safe with them though; there are so many horror stories... they have a lot of work to do to gain my confidence.

I lost 1800 through paypal. I flat out asked their fraud dept what would keep me from selling something using their system and never sending the products. They said there is nothing stopping me and that they have lots of people that do that. They basically said they try to stop it but when it really comes down to it, as long as they collect their 2.35% of the transaction they dont care. They are in bed with the major credit card companies so people cannot do chargebacks against them now so basically they made themselves a perfect world. End users cant do chargebacks, frauds get away with it, paypal makes money...

Unfortunately, scammers get away with more than the legitimate people do.

I hear lots of bad stories about them. I have used them for transfers since August 2002 and have had nothing but good from them so far. I've just upgraded to a business account and am wondering "Will customers want to sign up with me?"
It's kinda scary... I don't think it will be any real problem... My business is legitimate and I have gone to lots of work to make my business as friendly as possible, so when my word gets out I don't think there will be a problem for me.

The above however says nothing on this issue -- PayPal do not care what you do so long as they get their money. I had a friend order his PC through them and the company (Protek) disappeared off the face of this planet. No computer was delivered to him. PayPal got 2.xx% of his $1,500 dollars and PayPal wouldn't do a think about it other than say 'We're sorry'

'We're sorry'

I think if an investigative reporter dug into these instances i think it would be shocking to see how much actual fraud dollars go through paypal and how much they profit from it.

www.PayPalSucks.com has an interesting forum :)

Apparently ex-paypal employees have posted there but I can't really verify if they really are ex-employees or not...the stories are believable considering though.

I thought a Judge/FTC (?) warned Paypal that they would either have to become a bank or stop acting like one (i.e. imposing their own charges and T&C's, with no comeback when it goes wrong). Banks have ombudsmen/regulations to obey and to complain to when things go wrong, but PayPal is bound by no such rules.

That said, I've never had any problems but I use them a relatively small volume (hundreds, not thousands of dollars)

Let's see how much THEY really take.
