Hello,

as you may know, discuz and fastboard are only forums that can handle exremely large communities.

http://www.discuz.net

IF there was (there is not one yet the admin interface is still chinese) an english version of discuz , would anybody be interested in buying it?

Out of curious curiosity :P

No, i'll stick with VB - Click the URL below, one forum is handling 4+ Million posts

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=47430

If that is not large, what is?

Doesn't bother me either, I'm not paying for a forum anyways, I code my own, but it's still advertising.

Well, the site loads pretty slow for me and, um, no offense, but the forum looks a lot like a modified Invisionboard (folder images and all..). Just wondering, how much would you charge for a license?

You guys are funny but I still like you :)

It is not advertizing. I have nothing to do with Discuz forum.

I just wanted to know if any of you would be interested in an english version of that kind of forum.

I am sorry if some of you thought I was advertizing. I read about those forums (fastboard and discuz) in a thread from WHT

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=126968&highlight=fastboard

Then I downloaded the free 1.02 version and played around with it (although in chinese which I don't know)

I have been researching forums for a while now and have learned a great deal about the different software out there.

Most of them are mysql/php based with only a few being JAVA/Oracle based. I am trying to find the best forum that I could use on a dedicated server that would handle as many people as possible. Sure you V bulletin can handle millions of messages with the right cluster of servers but being on my own and having only limited computing power , i am looking for the optimal performance. Also my future website's intended audience are mostly AOL moms and hard working dads so I need something very very simple that will not scare them.

We very often take for granted the fact that we work around computers all day long and cannot realize that there are a LOT of people out there that wouldn't figure out how to use v bulletin even if their life was depended on it. Those are the consumers I am trying to market and that is why I am looking for the best and user friendly solution out there.

Please accept my apologies again, if you thought that my intend was to advertize. I really have nothing to do with this discuz.

thank you,

Nikos

This is a great forum, thank you everybody.

Now why didn't you say that the first time instead of you "would you buy an English version, IM me if you're interested"? Seeing as how your reply was polite and professional, I'll spare you ;)

A hint...be careful, as that first post could easily be intrepreted as advertising, and people get hosed pretty quickly for posting ads in the wrong forum here.
