i think the lack of replies is because Intel has been able to do this for ages, its nothing new it just means AMD have finally caught up :D ;)

Isn`t AMD going to release the Hotrail servers soon (late this year)? Now that`s a big leap in evolution, with 8xprocessors (12GHz :D)

Some how i missed that other post.. :(
I thought i found some thing new or cool.. :)
Oh well was worth a try.. hehe
xtstrike, That is true but its nice to know AMD is not out of the game as there CPU's are still a little cheaper then Intel and now with dual maybe ok for servers as well one day... :)

indeed Vortech, only time will tell, but it may be a sign to intel that their competition is catching up on them?!?

From what I've heard on the news about Intel's new chip (didn't catch the name) the one used on stock market computers or computers costing around $500,000 to $1,000,000 the current the chip itself costs $15,000 and does 6 GHz. Intel then stated that their was a physical limit of GHz which was around 9 or 10. So I wouldn't be holding my breath for a 12 GHz one.

Hi Perl Scriptor; What I meant was that 8 precessors with 1,5GHz each would make the server clock 12GHz (because of Hotrail technology). I`ve also heard of the limit in today`s processor structure, but I thought Intel said 20GHz (They`ve got 10GHz).
What is cool with AMD`s multiprocessor technology is that I think it will be cheap enough for the consumer market unlike SPARC, and that it uses all the processors 100% unlike Intel.
