Hello,

anyone used QuickBooks as their online merchant account service, I'm thinking about signing up with them, so I would like to know how its going with their service and are they compared to Auth.Net
Also are they available to Canadian Residents??

Thanks

I think they are US only, plus recurring charges require a WRITTEN agreement with the cardholder, meaning faxing/mailing in a document. Really not worth the hassle, although there pricing is VERY good for one-time only transactions.
Auth.Net is far more well-known, and has much better integration with billing systems and such. I'd suggest taking a look at moderauthorize.net's pricing on authnet accounts, very good deal and FAR more usable especially in this industry.

I use them and the merchant acct through wells fargo and absolutely love it.. You can even set up recurring payments through quickbooks and although you have to have a signed doc, it is not that big of a deal. I just use the ole 800 number and there is no cost to the end user and when I get the doc, I just scan it and file it away.

The biggest plus is that QB's will allow you to control your entire business in one easy place. Sure, it is a little inconvenient at times but personally I feel it is worth the littel extra work I have to do..

I used it. It isn't well designed and I had a lot of problems of making it run properly. I may just not get it, but I stopped using it over a year ago. Excel works best if you know what you're doing :)

I heard a million and a half horror stories about QBooks. Went from a manual system to QBPro 2003 recently, couldn't be happier. Much better than I anticipated. My advice: play with it using the sample service business, then set up your company file and play with that a few days, then finally throw it all away and get a competent accountant and have him or her help you set up your *real* company file.

It's been a big time saver in our office; highly recommended.

The accounting aspect of Quickbooks is great. It was a HUGE timesaver when doing my taxes. The billing side works well for my consulting business, but it's a bit cumbersome for my hosting business.

The way I have it working for my hosting business is I set up a recurring statement charge that gets entered automatically. Then I have to manually process the credit card. I didn't want to have to fool with having a form filled out to have it do the credit card charges automatically. Eventually I'll have to get something a bit more automated.

There may be a better way, but I haven't figured it out yet :D

Really I tried to signup with them but they require a US address with a US SIN.

we used it and wells fargo

left them because we got too big and the accounting issues outstripped the ease of functionality AND

the scumbages at wells fargo held the $ an extra 2 biz days which caused many problems.

i have heard they dont the dinero like they used to.

as far as prices they are better than auth net.

use quickbooks until you get too big then go automated.
