What if a provider gave you the following:

Linux Dedicated Server
900MHz or better CPU
512 Megs of RAM
100 Mbit connection to the internet (Directly off their backbone)
100 GBit of traffic per month.
6 Ips

Installed and ready to run. They give you the root login and you can go from there.

And only asked you to pay $350.00

I'd probably say its an advertisement that should really be moved to the advertisements board, but i think we will await your reply until the thread is moved?

although you may have found it somewhere and if so, then the deal looks fair and not particularly unreal for the price you have stated.

AND, is there a setup fee for the package in question?

Its not an advertisement... I was just surfing providers and found it... ill get you a link and post it here after I eat some lunch :) its chow time... :)

I think I might purchase one of those boxes because it is a nice deal... not overly wonderful but it does give a good hunk of bandiwth.

I must say, it looks like a fairly good deal.
But make sure you don't use over 100GB of traffic...Cause that's mostly when the REAL costs start....

I would say it looks liek a good deal, but out of my range. But then again you are not looking for my type of customer I take it, $100 or less please :D

I'm assuming that this was a typo. 100 Gigbits of transfer would be about 12.5 GigaBYTES (how most traffic is usually measured). If it was NOT a typo, then it's not a good deal at all. It probably was just a typo, but one can never be too sure. I've seen some hosts pull some pretty sneaky tricks.

hmm, indeed Planet Z, it seems you have an eye for noticing things like this, it completely slipped past my carefully focussed vision.

maybe a quick mail off to the provider Retalin? to ensure the data accuracy?
