Hello everyone,

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the website review section or in this section. I'd like two bits of input:

1. What does everyone think of the design? It isn't finished yet but we're 90% of the way there :)

2. What do people think of our pricing and offers for dedicated servers? Currently, the 'Corporate' is proving the most popular. CPanel for £4.99 per month has some people raving too :D

Here is the page: http://www.hosting53.com/?page=dedicated_hosting

This would not be in the advertising section for dedicated servers, why did you put that here?

Because the link does advertise dedicated servers and I asked for input on pricing.

Sorry if I got it wrong, but I thought I'd rather post in here than post it in website reviews and then be accused of spamming ;)

It should be in the main forums, ask a mod to change it. These forums are only for offers.

With all respect Chris, you have 0 posts and I would suggest you check the rules. This forum is not for offers only, it is for advertising, hence the name 'advertising forums'.

I have posted here since my site does contain advertising (and the link I provided specifically advertises dedicated servers), I'm sure if I have made a mistake then a moderator will kindly move it to the correct forum.

So many would have attempted to sneak this in somewhere else. He felt it advertised so put it here. Nice move.

Thanks Incognito :)

I don't want to go away from the original topic too much so some critique on the site design and/or pricing of our servers would be really nice :)

Thanks,

I would have to say this is the correct forum although I am not a Mod.

The website looks nice and your plans look quite reasonable considering it's UK bandwidth and fully managed :)

WHT users hopefully are not your target audience because hardly any users here would be willing to pay the price.

Jon, thanks for sharing your views. Just to clarify something you said, it is US bandwidth although ping times are extremely fast from the UK (~80ms).

Sone of the reasons for the higher price compared to other hosts is that we provide a toll-free redirect from the UK direct to the NOC in the US, there is also a 99.999% uptime SLA (which will appear soon on the website). The basic jist of it is that we will reimburse users 5% of their monthly fee for every 20 minutes of downtime after the first 24 seconds. This SLA surpasses what is on offer from most other providers, including some that provide 100% uptime SLA. Our SLA also guarantees support response times to within 6 hours for technical issues and 24 hours for billing issues. Also, we provide 24 hour service monitoring as standard on all essential services.

Providing a service on this level does add to the cost of things considerably but we are definitely not here to compete on cost.

I agree with WHT not being the target audience, it is just too difficult to compete but I like to know I'm being reasonable with our pricing :)

Its a relatively nice clean design. Areas I'd look to improve on are:
Server Status Information is rather unclear.
The large purple case image next to the logo doesn't seem to sit right in the header IMO.
DHTML Menu seems rather slow. I find it rather frustrating having to wait (be it just a couple of seconds) for the sub-menus to appear.
Images of server located on dedicated page are rather unclear and should be replaced.
The signup button IMO is rather unattractive.

Your offers for dedicated servers seem very reasonable (especially being UK based). I haven't seen many who are able to offer what you have. Although the quality of a host is always impossible to tell just from looking at a site. I would be seriously interested in optaining the Corporate Server.

My only objection is that your prices exclude VAT. Finding that on a site is a personally a pet hate of mine. I know that some people are exempt from paying, but the majority of people including myself who are viewing your site are most likely going to have to pay VAT.

Anyway, what you offer seems very nice indeed. If the site was fully complete with information about yourselves, then I'd be even more interested in obtaining a server.

s-p (sorry you didn't mention your name?), thanks so much for the input. I will work on the points you raised about the design. We really could do with a designer to tidy things up as our designer is on holiday.

I think I ought to put a notice up on the page that says that the servers advertised are in the US. We offer servers in the UK of a similar specification and price but with about 1/10th of the bandwidth. In any case, the US transit we have has extremely good speeds to the UK, better than any other provider I've seen.

I am sorry you object to finding out that prices are exclusive of VAT. Our target market are usually businesses who are VAT registered and they would claim back VAT as a business expense so it really is not a cost to them as such. Most Business-2-Business operations in the UK list their prices ex. VAT.

I thought about putting the price including VAT beside or below the excluding VAT price but it just looked messy with so many numbers.

We should have more information up on the site later this week, I look forward to the possibility of perhaps having you as a client in the near future :)
