Until recently I thought I had the deal with McHost, however as it's well documented on this forum they're having major problems. I'd like to have your opinions on which of the following hosts to choose from. I've been searching for hosts who have been in the business for some time, that have a good first impression etc. I've emailed each of these hosts and I'm waiting for a reply on them, your help would be appreciated!

Thank You.

I've used Voxtreme & Httpme for some while now, either would make an excellent choisce and seem to have a good number of ex-MCH people there.

Alan,

I have sent you an email from another email address. It seems the McHost email account is giving me problems (no surprise there!)

Thanks for your reply.

I have been using Splashhost for a year, or more, without problems. Every issue has been solved with precision and will. I have asked maybe for 10-15 service tickets on this time, and in less than an hour they have been answered.

Most of them were questions, and not trouble tickets.

mrlarter - can you post more about your experience with Voxtreme?

etrues, thanks for the information.

I'm leaning towards the following:

SplashHost - quick responses, good reputation on here.

Netluxe - lots of informative text, phone contact number + their support

httpme - i like the idea of their community, their forums are populated and AussieBob seems like a nice guy.

I've been with United Hosting for a while now, I've got to say that they're the best host i've ever been with.

well, i've only experienced 2 occurnces of where the server was down, one being a script kiddie on the server runnign a denial of service perl script, the other being an upgrade on the kernel.

Support has been excellent, Matt, and Simon are almost always on AIM, and the longest I've ever had to wait was 20 minutes, and the only time I ever need support, is when I need a mysql database setup.

Ensim 3.5 will fix those MySQL tickets :)

snappaman24 : If i was choosing out of that list (own company excluded) I would go with HTTPme - Very reliable service with awsome support. Bob is a sound guy with a sound business.

Matt, thanks for the recommendation. It seems like you run a very tight ship yourself. No doubt you're also on my mind however I'm a cpanel man so the offer of Ensim puts me off.

No problem snappaman24 Ensim is not for everyone, although 3.5 is looking amazing :)

The proof as they say is in the pudding, although I'm looking forward to seeing it deployed, I guess you'll be upgrading immediately?

No, we won't be upgrading immediately. Their are some decent new features in Ensim 3.5 but alot of these we've already implemented using unofficial patches/fixes. Everything is running smoothly right now so we'll take our time on deciding when to upgrade. New software = new bugs. We don't like bugs :)
