Hi,

Im currently looking to host my own site on a dedicated server since it needs lots of bandwidth, im also looking forward to use the server to host a hosting site and host other sites.

Any suggestions on the cheapest and best dedicated servers?
I know about rackshack.net but i heard you have to be really good to be able to use them, cause you will need to setup everything yourself and know lots of UNIX..

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Participants may not bump threads uneccessarily. Bumping can refer to posting useless information, making corrections or updates in a new post, posting one-liners or any other action to delibrately keep a thread hot. You did it here twice.

Also, many of your other posts are very borderline versus the rules.

Does Cheapest and best really go together?

These guys seem to be hot: theplanet.com, dedicatednow.com, prioritycolo.com, ezzi.net, rackshack.net.

Just read through these threads, you'll see who's good and who's not.

cheap + good = impossible.
If you want a good connectivity and low downtimes, go with rackshack
If you need a lot of BW, and don't care about occational downtimes FDC would be a good choice

I own a dedicated server at Rackshack. I can just say the following:
- Their support is very fast and very well (had some tech questions - chatted with the support and everything went ok. Another example: I have requested 2 additional IP's for my DNS things - my request was processed in less than 10 minutes)

- They are really deep inside

- Ping times from Europe are constant anytime, from german carrier T-Online: ca. 150ms

I have heard nothing but good things about fastservers.net. ThePlanet has also been a hot topic with nothing bad said about their company.

Yes, ThePlanet seems to be an excellent choice.
