I've been looking for a web host for my site. At hostsearch.com, I've found 3 that fit my needs and have good reviews.

HOSTurbo.com

9kd.net

arivoo.com

Are there any "skeletons in the closet" of any of these 3 that I should know about? 9kd.net looks too good to be true. Is it?

Also, are there any other hosts which are better? My needs are:

Perl
PHP 4
MySQL
At least 100 megs
Unix
2gb of transfer
FTP access(don't think I'll have a problem with that though)
Under $6 a month

Icing on the cake:
WAP
Raw access logs
Listserver
Good tech support
SSI
POP3 accounts

i think you will be able to judge for yourself on this board by using the search feature for HOSTurbo.com and 9kd.net they both have recent reviews on this board although i have never heared of arivoo.com and a search yeilds "0" results, i am currently looking into them, does anybody know anything about "arivoo" ??

OK OK STOP PRESS

arivoo.com

they mention "Unlimited" more than 5 times in their page for bandwidth, this cannot be good, they offer unlimited bandwidth for : $2.50 a month - barge pole and do not touch spring rapidly to mind...

just check ther T&C, ive never seen so many restrictions in my life !!

Yeah, I saw the back posts. But they were very inconclusive. The HOSTurbo stuff was mostly arguing about "free domain registration", which I don't care about since I'm registering with a 3rd party. 9kd was all speculating about if they might be a scam or not make any money cause they charge so little. I was looking for anybody who was actually hosted on them and could tell me how their tech support was, how fast they set up their account, etc was. It looks, though, that I'm gonna pick 9kd. Hosturbo gives too little bandwith, Arivoo costs more and gives no WAP, hostyard(which I found after posting that) is the same as arivoo, and 34sp gives too little bandwith.

If you need MySQL and a good/reliable host, forget the $6.00/month. Just my personal opinion. ;)

I'm enjoying hosturbo so far. I signed up for plan II at $30/year. If 2 gigs of transfer isn't enough try the next step up. You can add more transfer if you like.

arivoo only allows 3gig bandwidth for their "unlimited bandwidth"
