Hi ,
I'm a new bie
I'm planning to take up a raq4 at rackshack.
i planning to host around 200 domains on this server I have a few queries and would really appreciate if you guys could help me.
1 Would 256 MB memory be enough for very low traffic sites around 200 sites.?
2 Do i get a control panel free with every virtual domain that i setup on cobalt on rackshack.?
3 How many domains to maximum can i host on cobalt raq4 ?
thanking you in anticipation for all your help :) :) :)

1. Probably, unless it isn't.
2. Yep.
3. I can't recall the hard limit but I believe it is somewhere around 250 *virtual sites* (meaning not just domains... subdomains, etc., which is why you might not want to set up subs through the gui, a whole other ball of wax).
Welcome to the forums! :D

I've built a small business out of hosting for very small, low usage sites. On one RaQ3i (128mb RAM), I have about 150 sites. The average total transfer for the entire machine is around 120mb per day.
I've read many (many) messages from people who have tons of trouble out of their RaQs; frankly, by keeping my box running nothing, but what it came with, I have been 100% problem free. Maybe its just my good luck, but since I don't offer PHP, MySQL or other add-ons, I've found the thing to be a very reliable server.
Wonder if all the people that get into the command prompt too much, are causing their own troubles? ;)

there is no limit of virtual sites on your RaQ. The only limitation is 250 virtual sites per IP-address.
So if you have 6 IP's than you can host about 1500 virtual sites.

I don't think this is true!
AFAIK, there _is_ a limited number of sites you can add. One of cobalt's scripts checks how many sites you already have and won't let you add more than the hardcoded number.
And yes, the limit is somewhere around 200 sites per RaQ
