For some reason, every time I go to Google or Ebay and do a search, IE6 pops up a pane of search results (usually 5 items) in a split screen frame. This seems to happen if I'm inactive on the search results page for more than a few seconds, and has only been happening for the last couple of days.
Is this some new "feature" that I'm not aware of, or.....?
Help gratefully received, it's driving me nuts!
Simon.

Have you run ad-aware lately? As much as I detest IE, I dont even think it would have this "feature". ;)

That was one of my first thoughts, but my system is clean. If it helps anyone a screenshot is attached.
I forget where, but I always go into the registry of a new PC and replace all the instances of msn search urls with google.com
That split screen is your MS search feature, and as you've noticed, it sucks.
I would love to replace the msn search, i hate when you tyupe a url in wrong the have a box that doesn't go to the page but to the search :(
That is not from IE, you have new adaware that lavasoft does not identify. The site I saw this discussed on is down - but that is definetly a BHO

In case anyone else gets stuck with this, you simply have to find and delete a file named SbSrch_V2.dll and that'll fix the problem. Adaware is still not able to fix it with the latest updates installed btw, so you'll have to do it manually. On my system it was in \WINNT\system32
Best wishes, and thanks to everyone who helped.
Simon.
