Greetings!

Our last offer did so well, that we decided to run it once again. We received a new batch of servers today, and we want to see them go as quickly as the last shipment. Here are the specs once again:

Pentium 4 2.4GHz (533MHz FSB)
256MBs DDR RAM
40GB 7.2K RPM HDD
300 Gigs Transfer
24/7 Monitoring & Free Reboot Port

All for just $99/mo. + $99 setup OR $109/mo. + FREE Setup!

Upgrade to 512MBs of RAM for just $10/mo.

We have 15 of these boxes ready to go, and they are excellent for game servers as we now house over a dozen dedicated game boxes. You can ping this IP 38.114.3.1 to see your results.

*** Upgrade Giveaway ***

We want to start a little tradition for WHT customers. We are going to provide one lucky winner, a free set of upgrades, including a CPU speedup to 3.06GHz. With only 15 boxes available for this offer, the chances of winning are pretty good.

Cogent bandwidth... :( It is horrible on game servers.

Actually there is a strong market for game servers on Cogent. Not only can you offer a VERY competetive price, there is true value in being able to provide a consistent and stable ping to clients from all corners of the country. I host MANY clients with TMS servers because they get great pings and there are fewer "regional ping advantages" than with other hosts. Hell... I ping 50-60ms from San Francisco to the TMS servers.
I do use other providers, but being able to offer both means I don't have to turn people away. I'm like a Chevy dealer instead of a Ferrari dealer ;)
It should also be pointed out that in the two locations I've used Cogent (Santa Clara, CA and Dallas, TX) I've experienced zero downtime on the circuits.

TMS has a good cogent line, great pings. Nice deal Jose!

Sounds excellent! This is the best deal I have heard about thus far in my search for a dedicated server. I don't need much bandwidth, but I need the dedicated host.

What type of control panel are you using?

Edit- As I am a newby at dedicated hosting, what are the possible server options as in programming languages/databases/etc.? Thanks for being kind to a newby!

Johan,

We don't currently use any control panel on our servers. We would be more than happy to install one of your choosing (with you providing the license), or a free option like webmin or web.cp.

We do include some level of support that other companies don't offer. Like for example, we install security patches and do kernel upgrades (compiled for the machine, not RPMs). We also install certain applications at setup time, like Apache, MySQL, PHP, Qmail. So from that point of view, we try to take care of our customers so that they don't have to worry too much about their servers. This is mostly up to the customer, as some like to have absolute control about what goes on, on their servers.

As far as programming languages and databases, we install the development package that comes with Linux distributions, which includes a C/C++ compiler, Perl among others. MySQL or Postgres can be installed as well.

If you have more questions, feel free to e-mail me, or post here. =)

PS - Thanks to Potsie for his positive review. =) We're very glad to have satisfied customers.

I rent 3 box's from TMS and host roughly 15 gameservers. The cogent yet.. 10-20ms higher ping but is far more stable in the dallas area then on the coasts. Before you judge the bandwidth by the name and the cost, try it. So far through TMS I havent had any downtime at all and Jose is quick to help with technical support. His offers are great and competitive compared to others. Just to prove how great this is my first post in these forums.

Another thing I dont see why you just jump in and post a 1 liner saying cogent is horrible for gameservers, which was more or less saying this services sucks. I suggest you test a gameserver hosted from this location before you say its no good.

How much for extra bandwidth?

Any discounts for bulk bandwidth purchases?

JonL:

We charge various amounts depending on how much extra bandwidth you need. That is determined at signup time. We have some customers that pay by the gig, while others buy in 400 gig blocks.

As our name implies, we are very flexible and we will do our best so that the solution you buy from us, is completely Tailor Made, just for you.

Most people who say that speak from experience, believe me. We moved off a Cogent circuit some months back, it was a bgp4, and I've got nothing against these guys (plenty against Cogent mind you), but ping times through to Cogent from some ISP's are fine, whereas through others are just utterly terrible. Cogent's been around WHT for some time now, it's nothing new :).
