View Full Version : Hosting recommendations for multiple domains

I wanted to get some recommendations of cheap, reliable hosts for my particular situation. I'm not looking for anything fancy or advanced feature sets - just a place to build websites on multiple domains I own - the first one for a personal website, the second a website to sell my consulting services, and the third a music website to host around 20 or so MP3s of my own recordings (I'm a singer-songwriter). In terms of feature sets at least for the next 1-2 years, no need for extensive CGI, PHP, etc - I'm using Dreamweaver 4 and designing/maintaining the site myself.

What I need is a cheap, reliable host that can give me the following:

- around 300 MB storage
- 3-5 Gb transfer
- multiple domain
- no long contracts
- have non-draconian Terms of Service with regards to MP3s (i.e. not having to jump through a gazillion proof of copyright hurdles each and every time I upload a MP3)
- decent uptime for non-commercial sites

I've searched here and have heard lots of good things about Myacen - any others?

Thanks

I think page-zone might work.

You may want to post in the request forums and then research the companies you receive replys from.

I agree with SectorLink...this way you can get a bunch of company names, and then ask about your top 3 and get some specific information from WHT.

Or even better, click through to your site and access Page-zone from your affiliate link. :D

You might look into the host I use. I also have some MP3 of my own, as well as a client I design for who now has multiple domains in one account (I admin his sites so I put them with my host, it's easier when it comes to support). They are really friendly, and you can ask questions in the forum before you decide what you want to do. Uptime is great, and a server-move a while back was smooth as silk :). The prices are relatively low, but you get a lot of support for that. They have several different plans, and offer custom setups as well. You can find them here: www.infodoma.com In the forum you can talk to tuffy and Zain, and I pop in once in a while as well :)

I just wanted to comment on your bandwidth requirements. If you are using 300Mb of storage because of your MP3 files, you will probably need more than 3-5Gb bandwidth/mo.

Let's say you had only 1 MP3 file which was 3Mb. There could only be 1000 downloads of this MP3 to get the 3Gb of bandwidth (This is excluding general traffic bandwidth consumption). You probably have multiple MP3's, and the size is often larger.
