I have a script (shopping app from COWS) which runs perfectly on a Sun under Solaris. It however fails intermitently on the Raq4 mostly when accessing it with ISDN?
should anyone wish to try it is at http://www.inkylink.co.uk and just follow the ILRS purchase options.
Equally under the Sun I use a redirect for the SSL cert.
This appears impossible with the Raq ?
Is there a way to utilise the shared SSL without raising the normal untrusted cert message.
Should you have the time and expertise it is possible to place an order (as a test) as CC checking is done manually off line.
Any help is appreciated.

It looks to me like you issued yourself a cert which is not trusted unless one chooses to trust it. If you don't want this message then you must get an SSL cert from Thawte or Verisign.
Look at my cert at and see it was issued by Thawte. Until I got my key from them it did the same thing...

Thanks - but although it puzzles me that I can use a shared cert on a Sun the main point was that the Raq4 causes the shopping app to fail (intermitently) and mainly with an ISDN connection at the point where SSL is working fine. The padlock is evident and the cert displays 128 bit. But once the agree button is pressed the page is often not available.
Again this works perfectly on the Sun Solaris combo - yet not on the Raq4 ?

:unhappy: Yes I also get this problem - on raq2's raq3's and raq4's also on RH6.2 (non cobalt). Intermittantly the server becomes unavailable but click refresh or go back and try again you will find the page displays with no problems.
Does anybody have any ideas ???
I am not familar with you shopping cart app, but if you are using it through any type of CGI, you may want to make sure that CGIwrap is off.
On Raqs, CGIwrap is installed as default. CGIwrap is a security measure used when you do virtual hosting. It forces the script to run as the scripts owner.
I have move many web sites from Redhat and Solaris to Raqs -- typically a couple of the scripts will fail. CGIwrap is very picky about permissions.
I am not sure why ISDN would have anything to do with this problem though....
There is a thread here somewhere about disabling CGIwrap -- you may want to take a look at that.

Thanks again.
The CGI-wrap thread is too deep for me. But it does remaind me of other issues quite different on the Raq from using the Sun server. It seems to indicate the Raq ought to be buried quite deep in a lonely desert somewhere ?
I guess I'll look for a new host. Thanks again
