When trying to connect to one of our clients webs with Frontpage 2000 (we use cpanel/whm) I get this message "Server Error: Frontpage Security Violation"

This is all for UNIX.

I've tried re-installing them, I've also tried editing out spaces in the ect/paswd file like this microsoft document said http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q221/7/69.ASP

First the errorlog showed this:
FrontPage SUID Error: invalid target gid

Now it shows this and frontpage 2000 gives me this error:

An Unknown WinINet error has occurred (code 12157)

and the errorlog says this:

Invalid method in request €L

Please help, thank!

I'm not sure why that second error is showing garbage, but the first error you got (invalid target gid) would appear to indicate that when frontpage extensions were installed (to say, as an Apache module) would mean that it wasn't compiled properly with the correct group number. You often need to specify this upon compiling it. Again, I'm not sure about the second error and I'm not sure why you'd even have spaces in your /etc/passwd file anyway -- unless it's a field that I'd assume would have been irrelevant anyway, but I suppose that could pose a problem for something so horrible as frontpage.

Looks closely to see if WHM gives any errors at all or says it wasn't installed when you install them again. Check to make sure that the file is there in /usr/local/frontpage (or whereever you have them stored). Check the user and group of the user's /home/account directory as well as the public_html directory that's within that. Check the permissions on both of them as well. Furthermore, check the permissions of the .htaccess file (if there is one).

Make sure the permissions and ownership are correct on the frontpage directories. Post any information as far as errors go for WHM and/or when you try and connect using frontpage. Was this Frontpage2000 an upgrade or already there and you're just having problems? Finally, does this work okay in FP 98, etc. and just not 2000 -- and is this only affecting this user's domain or all domains when using FP2000?

CPanel/WHM and FrontPage (What a nice combination) :)
