I was trying to change the DNS servers for a domain in Dotster, and had some problems. I removed all the old DNS servers, then proceeded to add all the new ones. Then I hit Update. This brought me to a page saying they were changed, and I had to wait a bit for the changes to take effect. This is all good and fine, but when I go back to the DNS server configuration on Dotster again, the OLD DNS servers are still there. I have tried to change my DNS servers before, and the same thing happened, and the servers never actually changed. I emailed Dotster about this, but they are probably taking their sweet little time about answering so I thought someone here might be having the same problem.

I've seen that problem when the new DNS servers aren't listed in the root nameservers. It seems that the root nameservers drop malformed updates silently, and Dotster doesn't check the existance of a nameserver before it submits an update request.

personally i thought it was because, when you change the DNS it actually takes upto 48 hours to take effect in somce cases, and the control panel will still display the OLD DNS until the update has successfully taken place.

leave it for a couple of days and check back, i think you will find it has taken place and then displays the correct information, if not then maybe time to contact dotster
