I started a site and it recently got really really popular. It is on a Cobalt RaQ server. The site stats say the following in reference to stats for the last 24 hours:
Total Requests 160699
Distinct Files Served 1670
Bytes Transferred 78168277413
Now I have to post this to make sure I am reading the thing right. Is it telling me that in the last 24 hours I have transferred 78GB of data? And if so, is that the same thing as saying I have a plan that allows for 100GB of bandwidth per month, thus I have 22GB remaining if my new month started yesterday?

It is actually just over 72 Gigs, and yep.

well that's more like ~72 gigs but regardless a little more info would be helpful...
what is you site? do you have any sort of hit counter to check those numbers against? etc

Its a site that distributes music videos, so most likely those numbers are accurate. It has transferred about that much daily for the last 14 days straight. http://www.1337media.com/~zone
Maybe I should start looking for a new host eh?

Man 2000+GB/month is a lot. You probably should look for a host that has very cheap bandwidth. You're gonna fidn yourself paying a lot of extra money this month on overage, and with what you are giving out, it will only get more popular. You'll probably hit 100GB/day pretty fast.

So you can distribute copyrighted music videos, but you can't distribute the music by itself?
Hmmmm....

On Ebay I saw some companies advertising 500 megs of storage with unlimited bandwidth for $40/year.
(really it was advertised there in an auction).
You could move your busy site there since they have unlimited bandwidth :)

Forget about it! You will never get this site to pay you back.
The videos eat up bandwith like we breath air. prepare for some very large bandwith bill.

Hello,
I think he uses virtual hosting.
If that is the case, I feel sorry for that web hosting company.
If he is on a dedicated server, then he would be worry by now.

This morning it looks like his site is down and either if it was a dedicated server it's down or the guy he got his account from his dedicated server is down.
WAIT... while typing this message and after watching IE sit there for 2 mins prior the background has started to load... no graphics but the background is coming up after about FOUR mins of loading.
I agree... I would hate to be his provider. Even if he has a virtual account there probably is some kind of bandwidth overage fees.
