Heh, im a total noob when it comes to webhosting.
However me and a friend of mine are gonna set up a website.
I was just wondering, what is the difference between:
shared, semi-dedicated and dedicated (and more, if they exist)??
any help would be very much appreciated.

Shared:
you share the server with many.
semi dedicated you share the server with very few.
dedicated you are the only one on the server.

refers to how your site will be hosted
shared means your site will be on a server shared with other clients
semi-dedicated means you share with another
and dedicated, you get your own server

ok. thx. i could have figured that out. lol
What does it mean though. say if I can get a server with bandwith of 30Gb and 500Mb shared or semi-dedicated. does that make a difference?

It means fewer kids in the sandbox with you :)
Er, semi-dedicated means fewer bla bla...

if you share the server with less, it should be faster i guess if you have a super popular website
