Hello,
I need a new host (virtual hosting / shared hosting). Please make me an offer according to my requirements:

- US based NOC and Company
- NOC needs to have redundant power and OC3 lines or better (who's providing the lines?)
- at least 1 year in business
- Web Controlpanel (like CPanel or similar)
- 6 gb or more bandwith/month
- 75 Megs disk space or more
- 20 POP3 email or more
- Email - catch all
- 25 sub domains or higher
- domain pointers (no recurring fee / one time setup fee should not be higher as $5.00)
- domain pointers can be pointed to sub domain (definite requirement) not just to main account !!
- MX records / Email for sub domains at no extra cost
- ftp
- mail filters to block unwanted email
- php, MySQL, Perl - all latest versions
- Unix or Linux
- Web statitics
- 24/7 support (email / ICQ / AIM are fine)
- Support Forum if possible - but no requirement
- SSL
- Password protected directories
- reseller option preferred but not required
- $$ 17.00 / month or less - are willing to pay quarterly or semi- annual

Please make me a fair offer!

Thanks!

Please read my requirements before you make me an offer or before you just send me a URL to your web page!! Saves you some time and me, too!

It might be a little tough to find 24/7 support for some price ranges. For instance, I'd say probably 80% of the non-VDI hosts here, including us, can cover all the other requirements, and while it might seem like some of us are up 24/7, even robots have to sleep. :)

But your requirements aren't unreasonable. Best bet: get a list together of hosts that interest you and then send them any questions you might have. Otherwise, you run the risk of getting into a situation where the world is promised, but only a sandbox is delivered.

I understand and can see what you are saying, Annette!

Ok, let's change the requirement to tech support availble thru-out the day - including evenings! Does that sound reasonable for most of the hosts? I am not asking for a miracle but if I see my doamin would be down at 8 PM I would like to be able to notify someone.

Important to me are the domain pointers / sub domains and features like a control panel, php, mysql, etc.!

I know uptime is important but a guarantee usually does not count that much - therefore the NOC requirements.

Hi TheFish,

We can provide what you have listed above for $14.95. It does not specify it on our website, but we do provide reseller's options.

Domain pointers are free setup, since theres no real work involved, and they can point at just about any directory you specify.

Our servers are located in a company not real popular, but it's also used by affordablehost, and a few others. It has multiple t3 lines.

The site comes with it's own IP, etc etc. We can also get just about anything else you need.

Support is not a problem, I am usualy available 14 - 18 hours per day, Mike is available 12 - 14, dale is available usualy 24 hours every other day, and john is available usualy 12 - 18.

You can get more details if needed, and/or setup a trial account by emailing tony@lexton.net, or AIM LextonNET.

Hope to hear from you!

Most hosts can probably offer at least 8-5. Those of us with multiple people generally cover more range than that - anywhere from 12 - 20 hours/day (especially those of us who are night owls! ;)). You're absolutely right about uptime guarantees - they generally aren't worth that much precisely because there are so many variables involved in determining what exactly defines "uptime". So good on ya for looking a bit more deeply than most people, who seem to care only for price instead of looking at the bigger picture. Your requirements are not that difficult to meet - heck, we even offer what you're after, along with scads of others who pass through this place - and based on the horror stories that we've endured and reading others', it's always better to research as much as possible before putting down roots.
