Well, I have heard so much good things about stargateinc.com domain registration, mainly they're low price of $10/year & $8/year for 2 or more domains. But, I have 2 questions for all those folks that have their domains registered/ transfered to Stargateinc.com. The reason why I want to know is that I'm looking into transferring my 20-30 domain names from Gandi.net ($10-$11/year) to Stargateinc.com due to the the price and also the customer service with a toll-free #.
Here they are :
(1) At Stargateinc, who owns the domain name ? Is it the registrant (who paids the yearly $10 fee) OR it Stargateinc.com ? I'd looked in terms of Stargateinc's and it did not say any thing about it. Whereas, in Gandi.net it states "you own the domain name" and that's why I when with them 1 year ago.

(2) When a domain name is about to expire, does Stargateinc automatically charges your credit card without your authorization like how GoDaddy.com does theirs ? I don't like it when it charged to my credit card without my authorization.

Thanks in Advance

Hello
A registray transfer does not change who owns a domain name or where it is hosted.
Its an administrative change only, so if you owna domain now you will be the owner after the change.

I don't know if stargate auto renew or not, but its an interesting question.
I think they don't.

stargateinc.com does not auto-renew. I just got an invoice a few days ago that directed me how to renew.

With Stargate (at least when registering a new domain) you can specify the technical, admin, etc. contact....

Could you please give me only your registered date and expiration date of the domain (do NOT give/post your domain name unless you want to) that you register as an example ? Another question: How far in advance did they e-mail you that your domain is about to expire ? And how many times ? Do they still hold your domain for an extra 30 days beyond the expiration date if you still did not renew your domains ?
Sorry for all these questions. I just want to be clear about Stargateinc before I transfer all of my domains to them. Thanks.

I was told that notices go out 4 times. 60 days, 30 days, 7 days and the day prior to the expiration date to both the admin and billing contact.

My domain is expiring on 7/4/2001. I received my last notice around 6/4 or 6/3.

and the owner is not stargateinc themselves... but they have YOU (the person who paid for domain) listed as the Registrant of the domain.

besides that, as stated before, you can change all the admin/technical/other contact info through their domain manager :)

One last question : Do you know if they still hold your domain name for a certain amount of time (like 30 days) after it has expired for you ti still renew it ?
I know that most registrars do this. Well just in case that person was out of the country for let's 2 months OR in a hospital for some reason.

That's good to hear. Another thing, let's say you have lots of domains, does Stargatein have a easy panel to view all your domains to modify infos ?
One thing I don't like about Gandi.net is that you cannot modify the organization's name/info and that's also why I'm leaving them. Gandi.net says that you can, but I have tried but cannot because it's locked in when you register that domain.
Could you modify the organization name with Stargateinc ?

Yes you can change your admin, billing and technical info all at once(for all your domains.) if you change it once, there is a buttoon where you can check "apply to all domains" and it will change the info for all yoru domains.

No, you can not change the organization name..(At least not an automated way online...) Maybe, you can email them and get it changed. Never tried it though.

You can not change the Organization name GKG.net either.

yes, they have 1 panel, you select a domain and then can modify stuff!

That sucks! You cannot change organization name. Because on one domain that I have at Gandi.net, I had it under my name as organization. I really want to change to like AXB Enterprises or something like that because I don't want to have somebody to sue me.

I suggest everyone NOT to register at GKG.net because in their terms of transfer it says "if you transfer to another registrar from GKG.net you will be charged for the current price $9 fee to have it tranferred" plus another fee when it's tranferred to the end-registrar.

I think what I have to do is to transfer it to namebargain.com $9.99 (a register.com company) for 60 days and then transfer it to Stargateinc.
Thanks for all the help !!

Do they offer free DNS Services with their domain registration?

Hello
Its actually against the ICANN regulations to allow online ownership changes, because the new registrant has to be recorded as having agreed to the UDRP.

Its always surprised me that OpenSRS allow it, but as far as Iknow they are the only one who do.

Yes they do and I found that its very simple to create nameserver using the control panel. I have to agree that they have very effective control panel. But we are bit disappointed by the response... it has been month to resolve one issue and still not resolved... waiting for it. I sent a reminder once agian yesterday and got no reply so far.

We don't want to switch but I am getting a feeling that we may have to. :bawling:

I heard lot about 000domains.com... will try them this time. Any comment.

(1) First off all you do not own a Domain, you ''lease''/''rent'' it for 1, 2, 3.. Year(s). Then when you Transfer your Domain to Stargate you are still the ''Owner''.
(2) No you need to give them in the Control Panel the Creditcard Details.

I transfered many (50+) Domains from a CoreNIC Registrar (Joker.com) to Stargate and had never Problems with it, they was transfered everytime within the 5 Day's (ICANN Rule) -) First you will get a Mail from Stargate for every Domain where you need to press a Button (only then they will charge your Creditcard), then later you will get (when it is a CoreNIC Registrar) a Mail from them where you need to give the OK (or NO) to the Transfer, this is all. Love the Way how I can transfer Domains - all Online, I hate the Paperwork.

When you still have Questions to Stargate then they have under 'FAQ's' a great Online Support (Human Click) who can answer your Questions. When I had Problems the Online Support helped My everytime very fast (most was all in 5 Minutes solved) and good.

You see I'm a great Fan of Stargate :D

Hmmm.. when I'm right is Stargate not so long in the Domain-Bussiness (please correct My when I'm false) so its possible that no Person have Expirience about 'Expired Domains registred trought Stargate'.

I think its the best when you ask there Online-Support about this.

I think they have been been an active registrar for about a year now. So I guess we will see expired domains coming up soon.

If you need to change organization domain name you can also see if you can go with dotregistrar.com for domain registrations, they have this facility, we have used them, About 75 domains we have registered with them till date,
You can also have end user control panel like opensrs in dotregistrar .

We have started using stargate too and besides not being able to modift registrant name they are really good.
