Looking for Miva Replacment, we currently offer Miva Merchant for our ecommerce plans on Unix and NT. Miva has more than doubled their pricing  and I like most other hosts are very pissed about it. Does anyone know of any shopping cart program that can replace it, Akopia is NOT an option.

Thanx.

I've got 2 e-commerce projects where both require a very powerfull and easy to use shopping cart. I'm going to create it in a way that it can work with any website. Who knows, might even market it later.

Feel free to email me requirements and ideas you have for a shopping cart and I'll see what I can do to add them.

According to their site, it's only for RAQ's and not Linux or Win...

The new increased prices I received are across the board and for all hosting resellers. It does not say it's limited only to specific machines.

Wow. Can I be reading this right? www.pwebtech.com is thinking about ditching Miva? You guys have been selling it since I can remember.

Another two annoying things about Miva recently.

1) Miva Merchant 1, 2, and 3 were all released about a year or more after one another. MM 4 is out in June. That is a 9 - 10 month turn around. What is next? MM 5.0 out in 6 months?

2) Miva NOW.

Don't know what other Standard Partners think, but to us this is SH** ! The way it works is like this. Miva now does direct marketing to our customers. Those customers that needed a hosting account in the past can now go to Miva and have a free 30 day trail. They agree to this and are then pushed to use a Premier Partner for hosting needs. At least that is what I read into the PR hype.

Jay, I will be interested to see what you guys do.

We have been using miva since almost inception of Pegasus itself. But miva's support sucked before, they fired most than half their support staff, and the doubled their price.

This means to me, that their support will get worse and we are paying more. Which to me doesn't make sense.

How does/did Miva charge you guys? Was it per customer, per month or for upgrades?

We too are (were) using Miva.

I just reviewed the in the Q shopping cart (www.intheq.com) and it does run on Generic Linux servers as well as Cobalt servers. It's a lot cheaper than Miva since they offer a single price site license and this cart uses a web based control panel for setup. This one is a nice starter package but the same company has a better product.

Bitwise just released a new shopping cart called shoppingQ (www.shoppingq.com). This one has a lot of cool features and runs on Cobalt RaQ 3/4 and Linux 7.1. It too uses a web based shopping cart setup and uses templates. Their sales rep said they will have a Linux 6.2 version in the near future.

We tried their new software and its a very powerful package. I like the skin templates and the built in admin system. Their store licenses are a lot less expesive than Miva. We were able to build a cool store in an hour and their tech support guy was great in answering questions.

As a result we are purchasing a volume license for shoppingQ and dumping Miva since we cant afford their new prices.

Shoppingq is worth a look people.

Just my two cents on this subject.

Jay,

Whatever became of this? Are you still planning to replace Miva? Seriously looking at you guys for an NT shared hosting plan and later to upgrade to an NT shared ecommerce plan. An idea of the direction you may go with your ecommerce offering on NT would be important in making my decision.

Thanks.
