I wasn't actually interested in the service, but want to check that your message was genuine by comparing the IP of the post with that of the reply. Is it the same as maxinweb.com if that is any help to base your decision on. OgreDawg 06-21-2000, 06:37 PM Thanks for checking . . . I have had some bad experiences, mostly with communication and support on hosts. I want to find one that is not going to cause me to want to move1,2 or 3 months into it. Reading here and other places, this move rate seems normal. Anyway, now I am checking each out . . . a lot. Luckily I have not had some of the troubles I have read about in other threads here. This is a great service to us. Thank you. Greg S. 06-23-2000, 12:05 AM Hoster definitely means Alabanza as being good, everyone here knows that Alabanza is great for uptime and support. I have 2 sites on Alabanza servers and they are always online. Just make sure they have "good servers" at Alabanza, like 500Mhz or better and 526 Ram or better. Hoster 06-23-2000, 11:19 AM One word "Alabanza. OgreDawg 06-23-2000, 11:31 AM . . . and to you "Alabanza" means? Good? Bad? . . . To clarify, I know who the comapny Alabanza. I want to know, since GX uses them if you find this to be a positive or negative? OgreDawg 06-23-2000, 01:25 PM Thank you for your reply. So far all seems to be good. I contacted folks who'd recomended GX on various sites. Only one bad comment out of about 15 . . . all others glowing reports. I have been e-mailing GX and they get back very fast. I have had some really bad times on two others hosts so I am gun shy now . . . playing Musical Hosts has made me tired of the web! <G> Guess I gotta' get in the pool to see if the water is cold . . . Andrew 06-24-2000, 05:17 AM It seems that most of you says they're good but I'm not sure why I'm having this problem but.. I contacted them for the past few weeks regarding reselling and for the first two emails, I got their reply in less than 6 hours. Then for the third email, I never get my reply after 48 hours. Later, I sent them an email (fourth email) again asking for their reply. Fortunately enough, I got back a reply later. However, I never got a reply of my fifth email till today. *sigh* Sorry for my grammatical mistakes but I'm just trying to give my comments. Anyway, they're still worth a try, I guess. Thank you, Andrew weishen@pl.jaring.my OgreDawg 07-10-2000, 06:19 PM Been on them now for a couple weeks and it all seems to be working well. Time will tell I suppose but so far, 100% A.O.K. new2thisPartOfTheGame 07-25-2000, 06:30 PM Read a <i>scathing</i> review of GX dated yesterday on Deja. It surprised me, since their rep seems good everywhere else. I shot the poster an email asking for updates and will communicate the results here. lioness 07-29-2000, 01:04 PM I don't know what's going on with GXhosting. One of my favorite sites has been down for the past three days. The webmistress has sent emails and phoned GX several times and they haven't gotten back to her. She's really upset too. I know of two GX sites that are having problems. I'm really disappointed. Does anyone from GX post to this board? tk 08-01-2000, 05:55 PM Originally posted by OgreDawg: I am looking for views on GXHosting (http://www.gxhosting.com), their service and all that. i am just looking for a host and want to know what folks think . . . Dawn W 10-29-2000, 06:18 PM Better Business Bureau Online Complaint System -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following complaint was submitted on 10/25/2000 12:28:53 PM: CUSTOMER INFORMATION: Ms. Dawn Marie Warren forums@prodigy.net COMPANY OR ORGANIZATION INFORMATION: GX Hosting, LLC 57 West Canadian Woods Rd Manalapan, NJ United States 07726 http://www.gxhosting.com/ COMPLAINT INFORMATION: Complaint #: 143691 Complaint Type: Company (other than automobile) Date Received: 10/25/2000 Primary Complaint Classification: Delivery Problems Secondary Complaint Classification: General Service Problems Complaint: I purchased domain hosting through GXHosting on a month to month basis. My site went down on 10/10/00. I contacted GXHosting's tech support by sending them a tech support ticket as their site requires. They responded with in 12 hours telling me that our site and others along with it are having DNS errors and that this was why the site is down. They told me to fill out another ticket if the site isn't back up in 72 hours. I waited 72 hours and the site was still not back up. I then placed another ticket. They responded in 48 hours saying the DNS problem was more serious than first realized. 4 days later the site came back up for about 6 hours. Then the next day it was down again. On 10-20-00 I placed yet another tech support ticket. I have had no response to that ticket. I then placed another ticket, and again no response other than their usual auto responder. On 10-22-00 I received an e- mail invoice stating that GXHosting was going to charge my account $15. But the price is suppose to be $10 a month. I wrote their billing department and told them about the overcharge. I also restated that my site was still down and inaccessible for 12 days (by that point) Having searched their web site, they now have completely changed their original pricing packages, and have tried to change mine with out notice or agreement. Thus attempting to bill me for their new package rate. I received a letter from Andrew Guberman on 10/23/00 stating the billing would be cancelled and that it was a mistake. In that letter he did not address the problems with my site still being down. Thus I have been paying for domain hosting service but the domain has been down for over two weeks now, with no hope of resolution. Current status: I have sent 6 technical tickets to resolve the problem with our domain being down. I have had no satisfactory response. I have e-mailed the CEO, and every e-mail addresss for GXHosting, with no response what so ever regarding this problem. Their terms of service states that they guarantee a 99.9% up time. But Obviously, being down for over 2 weeks isn't being up for 99.9%. I am beginning to believe that they have closed down our site because they are renovating their service plans and don't want to have to be obliged to uphold their contract with us. If they can keep our site down and force us to relocate our site, then they can then push all new users to pay higher rates. There is a message board at HostSearch.com with over 150 complaints against GXHosting: http://www.tips-tricks.com/cgi-bin/ubb5.30a/Ultimate.cgi Run a search on "GXHosting" and you will see that mine is one of hundreds of problems consumers are having with GXHosting. Desired Settlement: Other (requires explanation) Settlement Explanation: What I need is to have my site go back up for a week. I need to access my files in order to move our site and close the account. I can't just close the account because there are literally hundreds of pages on our site. Please assist with the non response and failure to deliver what we are paying for. Also assist us to get our web site back so we can close the account.
