Okay, in laymen's term: how or where do you register this name?

Schwartz12

namecheap.com

Could be wrong, but you probably don't have it (ac.org) regsitered. Such rare gems are being gone after by AT LEAST a dozen top gun domain investors who do NOT use NameCheap.

well i did pay for it..

You may want to ask them for a refund. But if you DO get it, I'll buy it from you for 10 times your registration cost right away. ;)

LOL
how much is it actually worth?
$750?

nameslave

Can't tell. If you ask for $88, probably within days if not hours; $888 perhaps in a couple of weeks. Of course, there are always chances that you come across the right buyer by luck and sell it for more than a thousand in no time. Can't tell. But, hey it's like talking about winning a lottery ... LOL! :D As I said, you probably WON'T get it.

2-letter .ORG domains that drop will not be allowed to be re-registered.

Acroplex

You can still register it at Namecheap :D
Get your refund request ready.

I doubt you'll get it. I thought there was something about how people would not be allowed to register 2 letter .org as TIMECHANGE mentioned.

It's like the www.fs.org domain.

It's been free for weeks.

An alternative to not being able to register it?

*clicks heels 3 times*

AC.org still appears to be available, I'm sure that there's no way you could have had possible registered it. Maybe it would be best if you contact your domain registrar for some clarification surrounding this issue.

Why exactly is this?

Change of policy.

-RJ-

PIR, the new registry that recently took over control of the .ORG namespace has placed a moratorium on the registration of all domains less than three characters. They are following an ICANN directive from 2001

http://www.icann.org/tlds/agreements/unsponsored/registry-agmt-appk-26apr01.htm

So once a two character .org expires, it's gone for good! Current two character .org's are grandfathered in though, and can still be renewed and sold/transferred to new owners.

But then this new policy has VERY MINIMAL actual effect on the market, since RARELY is a 2-character .org dropped: only 3 such occasions in the past year or so.

3 domains dropped so far with less than a month since PIR tookover the .org registry who knows what else would drop very soon ;)

nope.. i didnt get it.. i guess i started talking to quickly.... i had read in a previous thread.. here at wht.. and someone had said that they had registered a 2 letter domain using netsol.. so i went to them.. and i even called them.. and they confirmed the icann crap or whatever.. so i said ok and moved on...
