Last month i thought i would get the most traffic on the weekends because of all the free time people would have boy was i wrong lol I'll be shocked if i get more traffic in the winter since it seems everyone surfs at work and not at home.

It should increase in the winter time for a few reasons:

1) Christmas time lots of people receive PC's and Macs.

2) Colder outside (in most areas) so people stay indoors more

3) Most of the holidays are in winter and many people also book off from work in december so people have more time to surf.

4) Every winter there are more and more people buying online.

5) I trade stocks and options, and there are also many more people making trades in the winter months for the very same reasons.

Right you are, Annette. I have a site about scuba diving and can attest that traffic and discussion on the forums is considerably lower on week ends than during the week. One reason is that people are actually out diving instead of talking about going diving.

Another reason is that some people still don't have their own pc and use computers at work for access (I won't tell, though ;-D ) That probably accounts for why Monday usually has the highest traffic, as people return to work, regain access and catch up with what they missed.

Plus, unlike those us of foolish enough (or geeky enough) to jump into this business, most regular people have lives and are out doing fantastically cool things on the weekends. :)

Seriously, though, our support requests and general questions drop off dramatically starting Friday evenings and then pick up again Sunday evenings.

Hey All,

Traffic is a lot higher in the winter (except for Febuary 2000) for the "rietta.com network." The month with the most traffic was May 2000. You can see the HTTP-Analyze graph at http://www.rietta.com/employees/frank/traffic_graph2000_endjuly.gif .

Mike,

My scuba site is Diverlink at http://diverlink.com It is rather unique in a lot of ways. It has a focus on safety in an industry where part of it continually makes light of safety issues in a life support environment, chasing after profits. It also has a B2B section to help educate shop owners and help them do better (much the wasy some hosting companies have learned from us here). There's lots more and you can see for yourself why it is highly respected (and there's not an ad banner in sight).
