View Full Version : Cpanel w/ Tomcat problems

Hello,

I currently use CPanel, and I rent it from BurstNET. They installed Tomcat Java engine to our server earlier ago, but it wasn't functioning at all.

BurstNET told me to place personal classes files to /home/username/public_html/WEB_INF. But I have tried, but it didn't work. The script always gives me a No Class Found error. I am so sure that everything is running fine.

To all CPanel users here that use Tomcat Java engine, does anyone know why? Your help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S. I am tired of the ultra-terrible support from Burst

I am not defending Burst whatsoever, but it's clear you're being unreasonable. First off, unless they mention on their web site that they support certain 3rd party software, DON'T expect support for it. Second, since it's your server, you're responsible for any software that you install on it that wasn't there when you got it...

Now there may be other issues with Burst that you haven't mentioned, but this alone, I must say you are asking too much of your host.

No I paid $65.00 for the installation (THEY INSTALLED IT !!!), and they GUARANTEED that it will function properly. So I am like buying a car, but not running at all. Should the car dealer provide support when they guarantee something? They were replying me but they stopped as probably they just don't want to care about helping their clients. O well.

Ok, I guess I misread that, if they offer it as a supported service -- then yes, they should offer full support for it.

Entermedia,

Cant be sure because many providers do third party softwares on install only basis and not full support.

For example at rackspace they install tomcat for us if we want at fee of 75$ for half hour , but will not help configure them for our sites (even if we choose to pay for it)

But what they do is will make sure the tomcat engine is working by showing links to the Class files and what is already there works fine. But again no support with why your classfiles are not working and where should you be uploading them.

Are your samples working fine ?

The thing is they GUARANTEED that it will work properly. But they charged us, installed the software, and it's not functioning at all. I need their support to fix the software, or I am getting a refund from them.

I have 2 years of JSP and Java Servlets experience. So I am certainly confident that the problems are not the classes, but the personal classes directory WEB_INF is not functioning.

The samples should have worked, If you say nothing is working then they should be giving you refund or fixing ip up for you

Good luck with this and keep us posted,

Problem was found to be in the client's coding, not in our JSP installation.
