I'm starting a conservative based news site and would like to know two things. One, where to find people to write articles for it? And two, the best way to promote such a site for minimal investment.

well you have some very large hurdles to cross, the main ones are

http://www.slashdot.org and http://www.theregister.co.uk

along with many others, althought the two above are my favourites.

Imagine me as a punter, WHY would i want to come to your site when i can get the information sooner at another site?

now suppose, you report on something different to those, you need to analyse your competition and tell people what you offer that they dont.

Finding people to post is easy if you start it yourself with a few friends, maybe 2 friends, if you can find stories before anywhere else then you are in for a winner. the only problem is you may not know enough people on the inside, and thats how places get stories first. once you get people visiting they will submit their own stories, voila getting stories is no longer a problem.

I wish you luck, but ive seen it before, you must enter the market with a clear vision of what you have to offer that others dont currently offer.

It would actually be a news site dealing with foregin affairs and politics, from a conservaive viewpoint much like www.wnd.com and www.newsmax.com . And rather the "posters" I need "authors". Are then any large job websites that let you post available positions for free?

Okay, make a site that says "Hi, I'm conservative" and then you won't have to worry about content at all!!

Care to elaborate on that? I think he's doing a damn good job. I got a check on the way, were moving away from the UN and pissing off the commies. Can't get much better than that.

well, in that case you have even more to contend with, here are literally millions of sites out there cracking that shell would be very difficult indeed.

How many people do you know yourself that would be able to contribute, and would you be willing to make phone calls to find out further information, its important you constantly listen to radio, news updates or you will quickly get left behind.

If you are talking about the UK conservative party then you are screwed, cos they just fell down the biggest hole of their life, its a pit with greased vertical walls 100ft high !!

Okay, as per request, my complaints with Bush (mods, you can remove this if I get out of control...)



Bush's Drug plan to get ride of drugs is to put more people in jail and take away money from rehabilitation programs and to put that money into the jail system.

This has been done for the past 30 years (approx.) and has it worked? NO! We need to help the addicts who want to get off of the drugs. Recently the National Public Radio interviewed heroin addicts in California, many of whom said that they would commit a crime so that they could have help for their drug problems in prison because otherwise they can't. Marijuana use has jumped, the % of ppl strongly against it dropped %10 from 1992! Tell me that what he plans works. NO!

We need to provide treatment for drug addicts with NO QUESTIONS ASKED! They need to be able to go into a center and get the help they need. We also need to set up a system whereby if a friend or someone you know passes out from a drug OD, then they can get the help they need (medical) w/o any questions asked!!

Bush's plan has been going on for many years already and all we see for it are a larger prison population and an increase of drugs use.
Bush not signing the environmental treaty. We don't need it, WE CAN SCREW UP THE ENVIROMENT OURSELVES!!

Yeah!! I just got the best idea!! Lets give you all money from the "surplus" that we DON'T have. Then we can cut money coming into the government be getting rid of the death tax (which makes people donate to charities and set up foundations). Oh, and we can give churches money (because I'm not religious and we aren’t bringing church and state together.......) And we can make up for all the money spent by eliminating all funding to any organization that even utters the word abortion so now we are going to have even move OVER POPULATION then we did before!!
I don't know why people want to move away from the UN. The UN is basically the US, it gives us a way to justify our actions
