Thanks for quick reply.

I just checked their web site (http://www.geotrust.com/webtrust/index.htm)
the cost is very high for QuickSSL ($149).

I read the description of every company listed there but no one looks like true SSL Certificate provider.

Thanks.

An SSL certificate from GeoTrust is not expensive when you compare them to Thawte and Verisign. $149 is actually pretty darn good. Rackshack does have them for $49 so you can try that as well.

As far as Instant SSL. From their own website, it's $49 per year, but their URL is banned here, so I'm not posting the link. Do a search on google for Instant SSL if you need the link.

********** and FreeSSL through their documentation claim to have compatibility issues with browsers that do not have the SSLv3 Protocol. FreeSSL even advises if you are running a production site to go with Verisign, GeoTrust or Thawte.

You can register certs on behalf of your client and get the cert in about 5 minutes.

Brilliant!

Sorry Instant SSL (http://www.**********.com)

http://www.freessl.com

$29 bucks.

It is chained to the Baltimore root and has more browser ubiquity than the GeoTrust QuickSSL.

GeoTrust has the freessl option in retaliation to Instant SSL.

Businesses are still going to go with the bigger names in the SSL arena because of all of the FUD that is spread by the machines that be.

Just my opinion.

sslca.com and sslsource.com both use Comodo certs.
They're just resellers I believe.

Funny they are great and banned.

Has anyone else used sslsource.com?

I think, I should go with INSTANT SSL because:

1. WHT members are recommending it. :D
2. I already taken a Trial certificate from Comodo.

One question, Is INSTANT SSL & Comodo are same?

Thanks.

Yes, they're one and the same. Comodo is the company's name and Instant SSL is the brand for their SSL certificates. :)

I will say it one more time.

The Instant SSL cert has the exact same root chain (Baltimore) as the $29 cert at http://www.freessl.com, this is an incredibley easy way to save $20.

I used to resell (I owned http://www.ssl4less.com) for both GeoTrust and Instant SSL (Comodo) so I know what I am saying.

Have a great day!

Thanks

I would say it was due to spam. I think they used to run multiple usernames on the board, I could be wrong about that though.

You're talking about their chainedSSL, right? Why do you think it has more browser ubiquity than Geotrust QuickSSL? Both are from Geotrust you know...

and it's known that chained certs have problems with older browsers....

Best choice by far (imho) is geotrust quickssl thru rackshack.

Baltimores has been in the browser (I think 97) longer than the GeoTrust (2000 or so) QuickSSL.

How many SSL certs have given you an error due to the fact that it is chained? Most likely none.

How many people do you personally know that have said "You know I went to this site and I got an SSL error due to the fact I was using an old browser"? Most likely none.

Everyone talks about older browsers having problems but I think most people are assuming that no one ever upgrades.

Check your log files and see how many old browsers visit your site.

This is from Neil (CEO of GeoTrust) http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75243&highlight=baltimore

I am telling you that Baltimore root is a good thing. Neil is trying to corner the low end consumer market with a good certificate. Most businesses are going to think that the higher priced certificates encrypt better so therefore they must be better.

That's very true... 90% seems to be some form on a recent IE version.
