I need some opinions on Modernbill as I plan on purchasing it soon.

From what I hear in previous posts, it is very good but on the other hand "too big and complex"?

Can I get some opinions from current/previous modernbill users.

Thanks in advance.

Previous user :)

At first, it looks complex, but IMO is one of the best set of scripts out there. Does what I want it to do.

What I dislike about the current version is its graphic intensive.

Hey akash,

May I ask why you stopped using it other than the graphic intensity. I am assuming you stopped using it because you started off with 'previous user'.

Thanks

I stopped using it because I'm not a host anymore :D...

If I was still in the business, I'd still use modernbill.

edit: phpmanager v2 is supposed to catch up to modernbill when it is released this month, so that might also be a consideration :)

Download the Demo! Try it, and fully integrate it... Then if it works, buy it at the end of the 30 days!

phpmanager 2 looks extremely promising. The new design is 1000 times better and im hoping it still runs quickly (please please dont go down the same road as modernbill!)

Matt, what do you mean by 'please don't go down the same road as mbill'?

I was encouraging developers reading this (such as John) not to go and add too many features to there client managers!

Modernbill went over the top and it shows.

All IMHO of course.

I've been using MB since late last year, and like I think most people can agree, it is a complex program and can be a task to get everything configured properly, once it is up and running it is amazing.

I've seen it evolve from the very first 4.0 release to what it is now, and there have been MANY changes just in the past few months that have improved it. I think it can only get better as they continue to add/tweak/remove features and listen to their customers.

With that being said, it has made my life much easier. I love waking up and checking my email. The generate invoice script runs everynight and sends an email to me giving me a rundown of who owes what and how much. Then later that night the batch generator runs and processes all unpaid invoices that are due. Also reported in the form of emails.

You can choose to do this by hand if you want, or automate it, the choice is yours. But this is the easiest way to ensure people get billed and you get your money on time w/o doing hardly any work. And with integratoin with products such as eNom and cPanel, when a customer signs up it is as simple as verifying them for fraud and hitting about 2 buttons, their domain is registered, their account is created, and their credit card is charged :)

Just my opinion, but it is worth every penny when you consider how much time it can save. The only thing I wish it had was a way to export invoices/payments into quicken or quickbooks for personal tracking and such... but that isn't too bad to do by hand still.

I use it, and not only do I like it, all clients are extremely impressed by it, I have gotten quite a few compliments about our "billing center" ever since bringing it online.

Did they ever do anything about the balance carying forward? That was a major glitch for me and one of the reasons I haven't bought it yet.
