I thought this was rather interesting:
U.S. citizens have turned on French fries and toast to vent their frustration at France's anti-war stance on Iraq. Now the French have joined in the food war -- with pretzels. A French Web Site is urging people to send pretzels to U.S. President, who fainted and fell off a sofa in January 2002 after gagging on the salty snack. The Web Site, www.bretzelforbush.com, says the pretzels will be stored at a secret location before being sent to the White House in a historic mass action.

Well it's ridiculous aswell that people in the US ban french fries and french toast just because the French won't help in the war against Iraq.
Just my 2 cents.

They just renamed them in some parts to Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast, can't wait for Freedom doors and freedom kissing.

To the best of my knowledge this idea came from WW1 when the US started renaming a lot of German foods. Anyway I think its stupid... not like every French is against war or that every american is for it.
