View Full Version : Countering DDOS attacks
Hardee 03-18-2003, 05:53 PM Some hacking morons took it upon themselves to DDOS my site. They find it amusing and funny and also threaten that if the site comes back up, they will do worse and probably steal my domain, and basically wreck 3 solid months work.
I had a word with the hosters and they said they can do nothing about it. There is incriminating evidence on their site also that they did it and I want someone to have their site removed as it's basically not on that someone can overload the server in a matter of minutes and then brag about it.
I was wondering what I could do to stop people from doing such things to my work and also who I can get into contact with over theit site (which is http://www.myg0t.com).

exploiter 03-19-2003, 01:15 PM [myg0t].....hmm, where have i seen them before.
not sure, but I am sure they are bad news, as posted above, try their providor, ev1/rackshack are normally quick to deal with abuse claims.
Luxore 03-19-2003, 05:25 PM Typically websites don't attack other websites.
The usual thing is that idiot children in irc channels tell armies of trojan infected cable connected windows computers to make multiple page requests from your website.
Your real complaint is against:
1) the infected computers that are DOSing your server (contact the ISP associated with each IP address)
2) the criminal that told the computers to DOS your server (make a police complaint so that even if they don't catch this individual there is a record of the attack which may support you claiming a loss on taxes and which helps our society recognize the amount of this sort of crime taking place)
Good Luck

So basicly an annoyance to society?
Winkie 03-20-2003, 08:52 AM effectively yes, myg0t are a rager clan, they get other people pissed off, this is what they enjoy.
There's almost nothing you can do to counter a DDoS, capture the originating IPs (the myg0t lads) and forward them to their providers with evidence and a complaint.
Ps. they can't steal your domain unless your password is ludicrously easy.
Hardee 03-21-2003, 10:36 AM Don't worry, it turns out after a threat it wasn't a DDOS attack and the hoster was having problems, but we'll be back up soon. Even better news about the admins of their service though ;)
Kinda funny they need all the publicity they can get and even talked about this thread, and have somehow "pwned us". Let the kids have their play. :stickout:
Sheps 03-21-2003, 05:09 PM Everyone's Internet is RackShack. If you email Rackshack saying they even threatened your site, it would have gotten them pulled... :D
rsanchez 03-28-2003, 01:10 AM I've encountered http://www.myg0t.com/ when accessing http://www.************.com
How big of a problem are they?
clockwork 03-28-2003, 01:16 AM You say DDoS - what sort of attack was it specifically?
