Are we able to host cgi/perl script on win2kserver even though it mention "Requirement: Unix,mySQl"

we can use mssql instead of mySQl ,right?

My server mention it support php,cgi,perl on this win2k . It's P3 750,128ram... izzit good? How many sites can it store? How possible will this server go down?

Yes, you can run Perl scripts on Win2K, but if it needs MySQL, then you need to install MySQL. And if it says Unix, it says Unix (i.e. it either doesn't run on Win2K or it hasn't been tested).

No, not unless you make modifications to the script.

That's about the same as asking how long a piece of string is. There are about 600 different factors for downtime, different loading stresses on the server, etc.

It seems so ironic.

So many people I know that have win2k/nt servers always tell me how they want it to do this and that like a unix server. Why have an NT if you really need a unix?

Why have an NT period? :D

people choose it for the familiar interface to their desktop and simple admin tools, people that want a gui or dont want to have to/dont have time to learn a new operating system.

if i wasnt to intrigued by *nix id have gone out and got a Win2k server, maybe i would have if i were a web administrator, looking for an easy job, Win2k would have been the way to go.

afterall, if something is free its not worth getting right?? lol (as most illiterate half witted... stop incase i insult a particular job title :D)
