View Full Version : bad rep cause by instabill...

Instabill made another booboo just this week. They declined the card of one client (worth $119), but then they emailed him a confirmation

Now my client called his bank and confirmed that his card has indeed been charged...TWICE!

I always question declined sales, but now I'm beginning to get suspicious that instabill is pocketing the money. This will affect our company because people might think we're declining their cards but actually getting their money.

Another issue I have is with Revecom, who keeps declining my credit card to the point that I had to borrow from my own mother! And still they declined it.

If I so much as get charged for that sale.... hmmm... what can I do about this?

Anybody has another suggestion for a good payment gateway? (aside from Instabill and Revecom because these two are irritating)

Do you want your merchant account or just a gateway? I heard http://echo-inc.com/ are good, but you have to live in the US.

Merchant account I can get from a bank. I just need a payment gateway.

Unfortunately I don't live in the US.

I wish we could create a site like hostsearch but containing reviews about merchant account services.

I'm really really really really pissed about what happened with instabill. My poor client got charged, and me not getting anything out of it. He doesn't even get his product until everything gets cleared.

This is bad...

They don't even send out emails when a transaction is refused now. I don't know if it can helps you, but theVSP.com are going to start a program like instabill. If you want more information, send an email to sales@thevsp.com with "No Monthly Fee Credit Card Processing" as title. I don't remember in which thread i found them though. By the way, i don't work for them :)

I would go with Authorize.Net. It's incredibly easy to integrate and use. The other big players are CyberCash CashRegister and VeriSign Payflow (except apparently VeriSign just bought up CyberCash like they do everyone else). Oh and Cardservice's LinkPoint is also pretty good. I personally think Auth.net is the easiest to use and develop for.

Skysenshi.
I'm using Instabill too.
The problem with Instabill comes from bad to worst.
No email alert, more than 15 hours.. YES 15! to make a sales authorization.
If everything go well I'll have my paymet gateway and merchant account the next tuesday.
I go to use sfcommerce.com
Still can recomend them.. because I don't test the services..but the sales Dep. works awesome.
I don't live in the USA neither.
So, maybe they can be your solution.
I hope this help you to leave that hell called Instabill.

Thanks!

You know, I can live with not getting emails when a transaction is refused. I was able to get around that since I inserted an extra form after the sign-up form.

But sending your client a confirmed email and then declining his card (indicated in the database) but then going ahead and charging it anyway?

That is stealing in my book.

That is worse than stealing somebody's credit card.

I've yet to hear from instabill. I want a clear explanation 'cause they just keep sending me the transaction details for answers. I need the details of what's going on...

Oh, and Jedito, thanks for the link too. btw, are you a SailorMoon character? ;)

I just signed up with revecom.com
it just requires a $49 setup fee...

and it has a 3.95% card transaction fee and a $1 authorization fee...

they send out emails promptly whenever you get a new order... and I think service is a bit better... i just created a new support ticket and they sent a reply within a 15min period.

I just faxed them the stuff that they wanted, so my account should be ready to go within 14hours or so! ;)

I forgot to tell.
Surefire Commerce get
%2.35+0.35 for every transaction.

Uh, Jedito, does sfcommerce support recurring billing?

I'm still looking at the other alternatives. I think I'd rather get a merchant bank account than being ripped off by instabill (or my clients getting ripped of by instabill).

Revecom.com is just a mutated version of instabill. If it keeps declining my own credit card (after which I decided to use my mom's card which was also promptly declined), I think they're all full of... uh s**t

It may look ok at the end of the merchant, but as a buyer, I had to wait 24 hours before Revecom told me my credit card could not be billed.

I don't want my clients to go through another s**t like that. If it pissed me off (as another buyer), it could very well piss off my clients.

Well.. I'm not pretty sure about it.
I ask to the sales rep. and he told me that I can accept recurring bill.
But I talk with anybody else that is talking with them, and he think that you must enter the charges manually, every month.
Since that they give you a merchant account, you can get CC numbers.
But.. I have to clear that point.

Jedito,
that kind of scares me. I don't want to have access to my clients' credit cards. I mean what if somebody tampers with my computer and gets into the info?

Jedito
06-07-2001, 04:06 AM
Ooops.. I don't think about it :P
But I not sure if the CC number are keeped in the SFcommerce server or you have it at your home.
ANother point to clear ;)

I'm still waiting for instabill...

Gawsh, when things like this happen, they're so sloooow!

We may have to close down our site if this doesn't get fixed. I hope the staff of Venturanza don't blame me because it was I who found instabill (indirectly because Shang suggested it).

Hmmm... do you notice the similarity between Shang and instabill? Is good service easily deteriorating these days?

Or is it just bad luck on my part?

YES! Instabill have a new record!! 27 hrs. and still don't autorize a cc.
What happen if after this time, they decline the cc?
How they make me look with my client?
Ohh man! I can't wait, to get my M.A.
I really hate this guys:angry:

ezmerchantaccounts.com only works with US and canadians residents :(.
And if you read all the thread you'll see that we are not US residents
