View Full Version : HostForWeb Skipped Town?

Two days and HostForWeb is still down. I can’t even reach their site to my cancel service! Is this company run by a high school student part time or are they professional scammers who took our money and ran out of town?

If they were a responsible business they would have found a mail server that worked and notified their customers what is happening. Or maybe found a reliable host for their own forums so we could get some information.

It is Monday morning and time for me and my clients to open for business. Too bad we are stuck on a HFW web server and our doors are locked and the store closed, and like a bad check artist, our "Host" is no where to be found

Hello,

How are you?

HostForWeb did not skip town :) We are still here and plan on being for a long time.

We moved our site from one site to another server, and DNS took a little bit longer then expected.

Actually, once we moved on Friday it was working off of the new IP address but then for some reason over the weekend, it stopped working.

Everything is fine now. If you have any other questions, please contact me @ alex.k@hostforweb.com

Alex,

did you notify your clients before moving servers? Just wondering...

I can't pull the site up. :( "Cannot find server"

And as sprintserve mentioned, is it standard practice to leave clients in the dark?

No, everything is not fine now!!! The site is still down....and no reply from any of the support staff...they aren't even answering emails. I am really ticked off, this is extremely unprofessional!

hello,

You are absolutely correct that we should have notified the clients.

The reason that we did not is that once we switched on friday, the website worked fine for everyone.

Then sometime on Sat/Sund it stopped working for some of the clients. Specifically some of the ATT clients could not access the hostforweb.com domain but could access hostforweb.net domain.

My deepest appologies.

If you have any more questions, please contact me at @ alex.k@hostforweb.com

The reason that we did not is that once we switched on friday, the website worked fine for everyone. Obviously not, or there wouldn't be multiple posts from different people here stating their sites were/are down...

Your site is still unresolved from my location as well...

major mistake IMO of not notifying clients.
