View Full Version : Need a host

Hi,

At the moment I'm hosted with Webfusion (on the £200 a year plan).

I need more bandwidth and they charge too much.

All I really need is MYsql for forums, good support and good bandwidth.

I saw Site5 package for 27GB per month which is good (more than I need, but the site is growing), and that would be for about the same price I'm paying with Webfusion.

I did a search on these forums for Site5, found some good and some bad experiences with them. So I'm still not sure.

I would want a host with good support (as I'm useless I need it). It would also be good to have a control panel (like webfusion has) and some cgi scripts already installed, like their web advertiser one.

I'm in the UK but it doesnt have to be in the UK.

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on any particular hosts that might interest me?

Thanks

Kam

It would Be Better if You Make this Post in the Web Hosting Advertising / Offers Forum so that hosting companies can give you offers.

I would prefer to hear peoples experiences with hosts (like Site5), rather than them just offering me deals.

If this is wrong forum - sorry!

Hi I'm hosted with
www.servus.ws and www.f5hosting.com. As far as support go, I think F5 has my vote. But Servus has cheap prices as well. The operator of Site5 comes here very often as well :)

Their control panels:
Servus : Cobalt
F5 : Cpanel

By the way how much are you current host charging for extra bandwidth?

We're hosted at www.FutureQuest.com. I found them after a long long search and I can not recommend them high enough :) It is save to say that 99.9% of all people hosting there will never leave. This is because their open stance and superb support. Just visit their public forum for more info: http://www.aota.net/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi

The only thing I regret is that they do not offer dedicated servers. So I might have to leave them someday...

Before that I was at www.hostme.com. This was a not bad, not good experience  Left because the bandwidth was too expensive.

I'm also monitoring my site using with qwkmon.com and the down notices I recieved once every 2 weeks just stopped when I went to futurequest.

Webfusion only charge 5p extra per MB, but they only allow 3000MB in the first place which is not enough.

I would prefer to know how much I'm going to pay each month too.

I was thinking of going with Site5, but I've seen a few negative comments about them, so still unsure.

Thanks

I think it would help if you can state specifically how much bandwidth do you expect to use and how much money you are prepared to fork out. For myself, I am with VenturesOnline, which has been terrific in the three months that I have been with them. Other than that, I believe people had been saying that WizardsHosting (on where this forum is hosted) is also good.

Check those two out and see if their bandwidth allowance and price fit your bill. :)

Have you tried tera-byte.com ?

Hi,

I've also decided to install a chatroom too (digichat.com) I'll have to how see this will effect the bandwidth/resources, as they are quite busy.

Tera-Byte seems good, but I asked them if I could run a chatroom, they said

"You may use the features you have avaliable in the plan you sign up for. Thanks"

I cant see any mention of a chatroom, so I'll take that as a no.

I might just post in the advertising offers forum, but I'm not too sure.

Kam, re chat rooms like digichat... I think the transfer of the chat is low overall, and the resources you'd be using would be fine, however, the chat server has to be installed on the server, as well as, JVM, etc., and I have a feeling they wouldn't do that (pretty much any provider, not just them). I dunno.
