View Full Version : Transfer a DirectNiC domein to Networksolutions

An other provider wants to transfer a domein which I registered at DirectNIC to Networksolutions. However this doesn't seem to work.

If he tries to lookup the domein at networksolutions the domein isn't in the database. And I can't 'release' of 'transfer' the domein at DirectNIC. Notice that the domein doesn't change from owner but only from provider!

Does anybody have a solution for this problem??

What you're saying is a little difficult to understand. But if you want to transfer a domain name from DirectNic to NetSol, there are a few things you have to be aware of.

1) Initiate the transfer from a NetSol domain transfer form.
2) Your DirectNic domain should be without any hindrance for the transfer.
a. it should be over 60 days after you've registered the domain with them.
b. you do not owe any money for the domain with them.
c. the domain has not yet expired.
d. you must be admin contact to initiate the t
ransfer request.

correct me if I'm wrong but as far I know directnic uses opensrs.org for domainregistrations. this is way (it happened to me too) a WHOIS in networksol says that a domain is available, even if it's up and running with directnic.

this are my 2cents ;) sorry did never do a transfer this way round

Thank you for your fast reactions!

Yes, I want to transfer a domein from DirectNIC to NetworkSolutions! A whois at networksolutions tells me that the domeinname isn't available in their database.

>>>1) Initiate the transfer from a NetSol domain transfer form.

Do you know where I can find this form?

>>>>a. it should be over 60 days after you've registered the domain with them.

The whois info on the domain says: Record Created on 05-Apr-2001. So that means that the 60 days period is just finished.

>>>>b. you do not owe any money for the domain with them.

Everything is payed as it shoud. I payed with a creditcard and the money is already written off my account.

>>>c. the domain has not yet expired.
No, the whois info says: Record expires on 05-Apr-2003. So that means that the domain is registered for two years.

>>>d. you must be admin contact to initiate the t
ransfer request.

Yes, i'm the admin contact, technical contact and registrar.

So concluding I can say that the conditions for the transfer are right.

Can you please give me the url at networksolutions for the domeintransfer because I can't locate it.

a question related to this question... if "The source" moves his/her domain to networksol, will she/he lose the time paid for? I mean... "it expires in 2003" now, will the date of expiry be different after moving?

Sorry for not beeing able to find the url for this... but this may help you:

Well... I don't know this in this case because it concerns a transfer to Networksolutions but if it was the other way around (a transfer to DirectNIC) you can find the answer here

Offhand can't remember the URL but here is NetSol's FAQ on transfers I dug up from my records:

May I ask why you want to transfer to NetSol? Most peoples try to get out of NS because they're expensive and offer no services...

I'm wondering too about this ... I have about 30 domains at direct nic... if you buy direct nic coins the price per domain is less than $15 + nameserver +forward + + + + ;))

Yeah i know.

But it isn't my domein but a domein I registered at DirectNIC for a customer of mine. And the company of my customer had a merger with another company. That other compay host alle their sites and domeins at another company (EuroNet - very large in Holland).

So my customer will move all their internet activities to EuroNet and they registrer .com domains at Networksolutions. And the funny thing is that Euronet called me asking how to transfer the domein...

One of my clients also forced me to transfer their domain to NetSol because they think NetSol was more stable and secure. :cartman:

DirectNic is great but it's difficult to argue with someone especially if that someone is the one paying you. :D
