hi i know little or nothing about security but someone posted this page: http://grc.com/dos/grcdos.htm somewhere on a hosting bboard, it is about a DoS attack maybe u should contact this guy he seems pretty good at solving this stuff. also it maybe long read but if u got a server you really should read it all

Thanks for the heads up, but if you are worried about synfloods, a firewall is the best thing. Not so much to stop the floods, but to monitor them so you can goto the source.

with juno.c's type of synflood
it is extremely difficult to just "go to the source"

besides, it's a dedicated server. a software firewall won't do anything. it hammers too hard. i'd have to work with my provider to solve the problem i guess, thats if they can even help ;/

that's right!!! software firewall WILL NOT stop it. it attacks the firewall ip address, it will still clog up your connection. if u go to the link i provided above it clearly explains the steps needed to try and stay alive till attack stops.
