Most Alabanza hosts will have excellent uptime, although according to Netwhistle some of their servers have had some infrequent connection timeouts and resets in the past month or so. If you'd like a small list of Alabanza hosts, check the post 'Alabanza resellers'.

Generally speaking, Unix/Linux hosts will have a *slightly* better average uptime, due to the forced re-booting with WinNT servers whenever a problem or upgrade occurs (e.g. installing a new module; ASP script errors/loops running overtime, etc.). However, if you like, use tools like Netwhistle http://www.netwhistle.com , Netmechanic http://www.netmechanic.com/monitor.htm and a few other tools mentioned in a previous post (search in the forum) and do it over a few weeks, and see what you get.

WinNT servers tend to get rebooted because hosting companies haven't taken the time to learn how to stop the need to reboot.

A Windows 2000 server is, however, a whole lot better. I currently have a Win2K and WinNT server at Interland, and a WinNT server at HalfPriceHosting. The Interland WinNT server was down once in the last 6 months (according to NetWhistle), the HPH one down at least every other day and the Win2000 at Interland has never been down.

Were currently on the alabanza network, and since we started there our server has been down once that i know of for a few minutes, and that was for a router switch out or something. Thats what they said when i asked them about it anyways. Other than that its been great and were real happy here.
