View Full Version : No Bandwidth Or Transfer Fees!
big_smooth 06-05-2001, 11:06 AM "NO BANDWIDTH OR TRANSFER FEES!"
This is what it says here (http://www.eastcoastservers.com/ecsservers.html)
Obviously, this isn't true...but, has anyone dealt with this company?
http://www.eastcoastservers.com/
All servers are burstable to 1.54 megabits.
Still seems a little too good to be true...
RackMy.com 06-05-2001, 12:51 PM How can EastCoastServers not charge for bandwidth or transfer fees?
Many factors are involved:
No 800 number
No software Tech support staff.
We provide the hardware and the bandwidth. You do the rest.
Location, location, location. We are located in a small town in southern Delaware that has access of a lot of Fiber. Translation: Cheap rent and as much bandwidth as we want to buy.
We use standard PC hardware. No proprietary equipment here. At 3:00am we can swap a motherboard or powersupply in a few minutes.
Interesting :)

It's in the FAQ :)
http://www.eastcoastservers.com/ecsfaq.html
But I guess the question is whether all their clients are sharing that 1.54 megabits...
Fremont Servers 06-05-2001, 01:28 PM I would say...this is not a good deal.
Any disagree?

cbaker17 06-05-2001, 01:49 PM There were some extremly negative comments about this company a couple of months ago, you might do a search.

Do they also give you a golden ticket to Willy Wonka's factory? Too good to be true always is. The only way they can make that statement is to bundle it in, but even so, that statement is just not true. Cheers.
domus 06-06-2001, 02:18 PM How much bandwidth do I get?
All servers are burstable to 1.54 megabits.
at http://www.eastcoastservers.com/ecsfaq.html
this probably means you can use 1,5 mbit's what means you can make max around 400GB
you simply cant do more
or maybe as he says "ALL" servers .... maybe 10 or 20 servers are on 1,5 mbit so you get in best case 40GB or less
of course these are only my calculations !!!
Duster 06-06-2001, 09:13 PM There's a discussion at http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5855&highlight=eastcoastservers.com that may shed some light on this company. Part of it is missing, though, perhaps later removed by the owner of the company. If it was a movie, I'd say the language and violence were edited to get a PG 13 rating. There are definitely parts missing,
I remember his petulant attitude and when he said "I was going to change the [incorrect] terms, but..." and then he said something like we thought he was a liar so why should he bother.
It was not an attitude that inspired confidence.
Why is everybody so negative about UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH? I mean, I host with www.ewsnl.com and I take a LOT of bandwidth with all my sites...and yet I still havent paid a dime extra...:stickout
Fremont Servers 06-07-2001, 08:30 AM Unlimited on dedicated server?

I do not think that people are thinking negative about free bandwidth. Just people know that it's, for the most part, a hoax or some kind of disclaimer like this.
