How do you even begin to start your own hosting company? How do you afford the $300 charge a month if you don't have any customers yet. I have my own Web design company and would like to venture out into the hosting.

I currently use Hostpro for my clients websites. They are very pricey but I get instant response when I call or email.

So how do I begin a web hosting company with a budget? I almost went bankrupt starting my web design company.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Kirk

best advice is to start out reselling with a reliable company....that way you can profit some without much of the overhead.
I believe its the way to start anyway....because you may not even like the business....good way to find out...if you dont like it you certainly arent out TOO much!

I agree.

Start out reselling for a host that gives a good price and is willing to work with you.

You can easily upcharge the services because just having you is a value added. Many companies are willing to pay $35.00, $50.00 or more for hosting when they think they have their own webmaster watching thier site and keeping it current with search engines, etc.

This will allow for quite a bit of profit. :-)

Hey.. Here are some pointers to get you going that helped me a bunch along the way.

1) Take as little money out of the company as possible and try not to waste money. Spend all extra money on advertising!
2) Incorporate your company and get a good local CPA. http://www.inc123.com does it for pretty cheap ($500-600). This will protect you personally from any law suits and the IRS.

I personally started my company with only $4,000 at hand but we have grown quite a bit since then. It's a LOT of hard work to do it without a bunch of capital but in the long run its well worth it.

Good luck and god speed or something =)
