View Full Version : anybody having Burst Issues

nate

one of my servers has been down for over 2 hours ... they have given me about 5 excuses for the mess, but the latest is that:

'we are having an APC issue with an entire rack & are switching in a new one. this should take about another 20-30 minutes'

this was a phone conversation i had about an hour ago. i called them back and the lady that answers sends me to voice mail ....

anyone having similar issues ?

Hello,

Currently we're not having any issues like you mentioned - must be localized to where your server is actually located in the datacenter.

well ... it is going on 3 hours and they will not respond to my tickets, calls, or IM's.

anyone else ?

Did you try the new emergency ticket system? Kinda curious to see if it's any improvement...

No issues here for a couple of days, but my server was down for 5 hrs. on Monday. Never heard an explanation--supposedly they are "monitoring" to see that problem doesn't recur.

There is a network issue right now:

1 ge-5-0-border.scr1.hostnoc.net (64.191.0.1) 232.341 ms 243.642 ms 247.778 ms

I have actually been talking to Mike, he said they're looking into it, but ATM, Dan hasn't found anything.

i used the emergency@burst.net and it made no difference what so ever. i suppose that is just the way it is .... the server is back online now, but instead of an apology or a reason or any type of information, i just got:

'server up and running operational.
issue resolved. '

while i am happy it is back up, it would be nice for them to at least acknowledge that they cause some sort of inconvenience.

huh ...

John is great for server issues, but he's a remote tech, so he can't do much about network problems (and sometimes is not even informed about them). Mike has just sent my ticket to Dan, let's hope this gets resolved quickly.

Just noticed this over at the Burst forums. Some improvement, even if tickets are still slow.

actually i didn't read the last post in the thread, a malfunctioning power breaker can happen rarely (hopefully it wasn't because they over-loaded it though).

burst is probably a good host, they seem to be from what I see anyway.

so sorry for the laughy face , it's just so funny i had to use it though.

phactor - Call them for reboots. Also, Mike (csmburstnet) is on right now, you can ask him to reboot. Make sure it's not just the network issue.

I'm usually supporting Burst, but three straight days of network issues, all unrelated? I don't want to say that it's unacceptable, but it is - furthermore, it's not covered under their SLA.

Matt :

I know that aim is not to request reboots. I jut think they SHOULD answer customers instead of ignoring them. If their online, and i think my server is having those power failures, why they dont answer?

this is not normal

Most likely Mike is away from his desk - he said goodbye to me about 15 minutes ago, but never put his away message on. He hasn't answered me since - things are very busy at Burst/Nocster. I think they should put on away messages...

phactor - Cut their AIM service some slack, they're busy with a lot of things right now. Do you still need a reboot? I can call them and get one for you, just PM me with your servername and IP (if I remember correctly, you're not located in the US, so it's not a free call), and I'll call them once I get it (if I'm not eating dinner).

I think people need to chill out a bit. There support has gotten a ton better in the last few days, i'm sure their network is getting a lot of attention also. I can guarantee that if you're having network issues (like myself) that its being handled. They'll let us know what happened when they get done running around like crazy trying to fix it. I'd rather have them fix it first them mess around with telling us what the deal is.

I've been in contact with Dan during and after each network issue, but haven't been able to reach him during this one. Support is getting better, but the network has had a really bad time over the last few days, & in all likelyhood, none of which will be covered under the SLA. Their SLA means nothing - with the way it is worded, they might as well offer 100% uptime...

We have our main server there, which hosts our own website, forums and helpdesk. No clients are hosted there, although it's still extremely annoying the fact they wont reply to tickets, answer the phone, reply on AIM or ICQ and wont provide updates as to what's going on.

My server was down for about 5 minutes. Back up now.

Anyhow, i'm gonna change the subject here, but is it just me or has anyone else noticed how vulnerable the internet has been in the last 6 weeks? I mean from viruses, to DOS, to cut wires, to outages, to floods, etc, it seems that we're finally seeing the effects here of the growth of the internet. Maybe its the talk of war, i don't know, or the release of Kevin Mitnick, but it just seems the net hasn't been as stable as it has in the past....but this could just be me =)
