I've gotten a customer who wants to host casino sites. Generally, do casino sites fall into the definition of adult content?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks. zimzimmam3 03-13-2003, 02:15 PM I always thought adult sites were only pornographic related. I do not think casino sites should possess the category of having "adult content" because they are adult orientated. Nas DangerMouse 03-13-2003, 02:17 PM I dont think they can be classed as adult, but you might find they have hyperlinks to adult content. It depends on how your TOS is interpreted on that really. MarcD 03-13-2003, 03:29 PM I do not think so, We host a couple of them. And have had no problems case 03-13-2003, 03:29 PM casino sites are adult and high risk. Just like you have to be a certain age to look at porno, you have to be a certain age to gamble. intraweb 03-13-2003, 03:44 PM I wouldn't touch them for the same reason's I don't host adult. It has nothing to do with some moral objections - it is just high risk, due to the complexity of laws. case 03-13-2003, 03:49 PM yeah, i rather gamble in vegas anyways. According to mcc 5967, they are not "porn" but they fall under the same catagory as high risk adult accounts. I too wouldnt have anything to do with a casino site. Most of these people are crooks trying to make a quick buck. webgrafix 03-13-2003, 06:26 PM Remember.... "Most" casino sites you are likely to see are really "front" ends (doorways, so to speak) for the real casino, which usually reside in Antigua or some other Caribbean Island. Think "Affiliate".... they get a piece of the action, usually a percentage of total money lost. You need to be licensed to operate a casino, and if you have the tens of thousands of dollars to aquire a gaming license, then a few more bucks to run a server, and lease/purchase the gaming software.... I don't think they would be looking to us to get "shared" hosting. Myself, "personally" would not catorgorize gaming websites as "Adult" in the same catagory as Pornography or Illegal... again as stated above, you need to be licensed in the country you operating out of... hence it's not illegal. Just my thoughts.... WebGrafix case 03-13-2003, 06:35 PM well thats why alot of adult merchants and casino type merchants go off shore. Ive seen some doing the billing out of "remote Caribbean Island" . Ive seen some operate out of turkey and even japan. The majority of these people look for merchant banks where licensing doesnt matter, not to mention they get a better chargeback ratio because they're international. Then again most american processing companies wont even touch an off shore unless its doing over 30k monthly anyways. I will agree that a casino isnt going to happen on a shared hosting environment turboweb 03-13-2003, 07:02 PM Casino is considered adult because of state and federal laws requiring certain age limits and such. I wouldn't touch casino pages with a 10 foot pole. I have adult sites hosted but never casino. Too much conspiracy, hatred (wait until a pee'd off customer comes back for revenge) and way to much lying/forwarding/hotlinking and all that jazz. unless your making a percentage of his incomin and more, don't bother. |
