Finally, AMD releases its long awaited AMD-760 MP chipset, a chipset that will allow two AMD processors (Athlon/Duron) to be run in SMP configuration....
One motherboard that I just saw was Tyan Thunder K7 (S2462) with some highlights as follows:
- up to dual Athlon (200/266 Mhz FSB)
- up to 3GB of PC1600/2199 (at 25 degrees angle, 1U ready)
- Dual Channel Ultra 160 SCSI
- Dual 3COM 3C920 NIC on board
Price at www.pricewatch.com is around $560 (plus S/H).
Woa... that's not to cheap.... The reason I was waiting for this chipset was becasue I thought it would let me have a better/cheaper Dual processors server (compare to Intel), but... at this price, Tyan Thunder LE (S2510) seems to be around $100 cheaper... for almost the same highlights. Yea...yea... slower memory, slower FSB, etc...etc.... ;)
cheers,
